Sims 3 won't uninstall [MAC]

[ Edited ]

This is very frustrating.  I love Sims 3 and dislike Sims 4.  On my new MacPro, I downloading Sims 3 from Origin and began adding the expansions and worlds.  But why did i try to add Ambitions?  That when it all crashed...so to speak.  Now I get the error message and cannot play Sims 3 nor can I uninstall it to begin again.

There is no Cider Preference in my Preferences folder and no Transgaming in the folder, as suggested by another site.

@ehulon  I've split your post into its own thread, since the other thread was a bit old and sounds like it didn't help you.

The reason you don't have certain folders is because you haven't successfully launched the game yet.  But you should remove everything Sims-related you find and start over.

Then before you reinstall, run the Origin reset tool for macs:

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

When you launch Origin again, be sure to decline the option to automatically keep Origin and your games up to date.  (This setting is probably why Ambitions started downloading automatically.)  You can check and adjust this setting by hovering over your username in Origin and clicking Application Settings.  Under Application (the first tab), scroll to Client Update to see the options.

Now you can download and install the TS3 base game only.  Then run the Super Patch (digital download version) to manually patch the game to 1.67.  The launcher doesn't always do a good job of this itself, and running the Super Patch won't hurt.

At this point, please confirm that TS3 runs.  If it doesn't, you'll need to edit the game's .sgr files to force recognition of your graphics card.  If this isn't something you're comfortable doing on your own, just post your computer's full specs, along with the device ID of your card.  Here's how to find that information:

If it does launch, you can start installing packs.  Four of them—Ambitions, Late Night, Fast Lane, and Outdoor Living—don't install properly and require two workarounds.  The first is simple:  Make an alias for each pack that doesn't already have one in Applications, alongside the alias for the base game.

The second fix is to copy files from these four affected packs into the folder for your newest pack by the date EA released it.  If you're only installing Ambitions, you can skip this step, since Ambitions would be that newest pack, and you don't need to copy its files into its own folder.  If you install a newer pack, though, this step becomes necessary.  The video embedded in this post shows exactly how to do it:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.  If something goes wrong in the process, please post back with the details, including any error messages you see.
