Hi, i am having trouble starting my Sims 3. I am unable to uninstall and reinstall, and origin is stuck on "finalizing" even though nothing is loading. I'm on a Mac, any help is appreciated

@juliak127 I'm not sure why the game didn't install correctly. But regardless, the best place to start is with a manual uninstall, including removing TS3's hidden library files. If you don't delete them, their presence may prevent you from launching the game going forward, even if you do everything else right. Here's how to uninstall without the help of the uninstaller:

After uninstalling, empty your trash, run the Origin reset tool, then restart your computer. This should take care of the "finalizing" issue going forward.

Next, download the base game only, no packs. Then run the Super Patch (digital download version) to manually patch to 1.67. The launcher doesn't do a good job of patching on its own.

If you still get the finalizing message, let me know, and do another clean uninstall. There's a way to run the installer without Origin, which may be the best option if Origin gets stuck again. I'll write out the directions if necessary.
If, after running the Super Patch, you can launch the base game without trouble, you can install Generations, Seasons, and University Life. All of them install correctly, so you should be fine. (If you happen to own any of Ambitions, Late Night, Fast Lane, or Outdoor Living, there are are additional steps needed to get them working.)
If the patched base game throws an unknown error, you'll likely need to edit the game's .sgr files to add your graphics card. If you'd like help with this, just post the specs of your Mac, as described here:
