I was recently given a copy of the Sims 3 Deluxe Edition as a "consolation gift" after tech support was unable to get SimCity to work on my Mac after updating to High Sierra. After installing TS3, I've been unable to open the game launcher at all. I receive the "unknown error" message every time. After a few hours with advisors on chat and over the phone, I was told to post my issues here in hopes of someone helping me.
So far, I have tried all of the basic steps (uninstall/reinstall TS3 and Origin, boot in Safe Mode, boot in 2nd admin account, superpatcher, changing the game files to match the Intel iris graphics card, uninstall origin and TS3 and install in safe mode), and am still unable to access the game launcher. I currently only have the base game installed, as Ambitions seems to cause more problems. I'm open to any troubleshooting steps.
Below are my system specs:
MacBook Pro Retina (Mid-2014)
Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,1
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel i5
RAM: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
OS X: 10.13.2 (High Sierra)
Graphics: Intel Iris 1536 MB
Thank you so much for your help in advance.
