Sims 3 on Macbook is randomly closing after 10 mins

I play Sims 3 through origin as my Macbook doesn't have a disc slot. Everytime I start playing it closes after about 10 minutes. No freezing, no error messages, it just closes. I left it on create a sim for about 2 hours and it stayed open, but then as soon as I started actually doing stuff it closed again. SO frustrating. I've uninstalled and reinstalled origin and sims 3, as well as creating a new origin user and trying to download it - still happens. I've tried deleting the cache folders but it hasn't helped. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
