Sims 3 - not launching

★★★ Novice

Hi, I just installed sims 3 and around 9 expansion packs for it on my macbook pro, the new version 64 bit. when I try to launch it, a box just pops up saying "an unknown error occured" I have tried all the basic trouble shooting things. My mac is running version 10.15.6 Catalina, my mac is a 16 inch 2019 version, 2.4 ghz 8 core intel i9, memory 32 gb 2667 mhz ddr4. graphics amd radeon pro 5500m 8gb, intel uhd graphics 630 1536 mb.

Is this because I have too many packs

Re: Sims 3 - not launching

@Damos19  Some of us are playing with all expansions installed, so I doubt this has anything to do with your nine EPs.  Does your game throw the unknown error when you press Play in Origin or in the Sims 3 launcher?  Please move your entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts, that is if you have one, and try to play.  If that doesn't work or you don't have that folder, please run the Origin reset tool for macOS:

Restart your computer, open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 3 icon, and select Repair.  Then try to play again.

I don't work for EA. I'm just trying to help fellow players with their games.
