Sims 3 launcher won't download custom content

★★ Novice

I try to double click the plumbob that has "pack" in the title to download some custom content but when I do the downloader does not come up so no custom content downloads, even from the sims 3 store, I'm on a Mac by the way.

@simsmnga146  Downloading store stuff and custom content onto a Mac can be a bit tricky sometimes.  For cc not found on the Exchange, you can download the Sims3Packs and move them from your computer's Downloads folder to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads, where they can be read and installed by the launcher.  This only applies to Sims3Packs; any file in .package form goes into Mods\Packages, and any .zip file has to be unzipped first.

For the Store and Exchange, here are a few things to try:

  • Clear your browser cache
  • Use a different browser—Firefox works very well on my Mac
  • Make sure your browser isn't blocking popups from the store
  • Open the launcher before you click the download button
  • Download only a few items at a time, or one at a time if they're large files, like a world
  • If double-clicking on the pack icon doesn't help, try the base game icon instead
  • For store stuff, try downloading from its product page rather than your Purchase History
