Sims 3 Won't Download (Mac)

★★★ Newbie

My Sims 3 games kept acting glitchy, so I decided to delete it from my computer and tried to redownload it but a screen keeps coming up that said "We're sorry, Origin was unable to download your game. Please check your internet connection, or try again later." I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Origin and it still didn't work. I was able to download it before and I have bought and install expansion packs from Sims 4 with no problem.

@BunnyandKitty22  If your OS is Yosemite, you're one of a number of people who have had issues with Origin over the past few weeks.  EA is aware of the issue and is working on a solution and will post any news in this thread:

In the meantime, updating to High Sierra will fix the problem.  If your computer doesn't support High Sierra, El Capitan should be good enough.  You can search the app store for either OS.

If your OS is not the issue, you can try running the Origin reset tool for macs.

Whether or not you're running Yosemite, you'll need to do a clean uninstall of TS3 before proceeding.  The uninstaller that comes with the game will miss some files which can then interfere with later attempts to launch the game.

Once you're ready to reinstall, there are several troubleshooting steps you might need to take, depending on your mac's specs and which packs you're installing.  Bluebellflora has written a very helpful guide to installing TS3 in mac OS:

Finally, it should be said that uninstalling your program files is almost never necessary to solve TS3 issues.  There are much easier steps, such as deleting your cache files or generating a clean game folder, that will usually be sufficient to fix whatever problem you're experiencing.

I don't work for EA. I'm just trying to help fellow players with their games.
