Sims 3 Launch Issue Mac

 I bought the Sims 3 because my little brother was desperate to play it! Completed the installation process and such, but when I click the orange "Play Now" button, all that happens is I recieve a pop up that says "Unknown error occurred." Really bummed because now I have a super disappointed brother and $20 wasted. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any ideas?
