Sims 3 Into the Future Expansion Pack: Disc Not Inserted

★★★ Newbie

Hi!

I have been trying to play my Sims 3 for months, but it will not let me because when I try to play it says disc not inserted. The shows up on my desktop, and I have played this game many times before without having issues. When I try to play the game, it loads as if it will let me play, and I make it all the way to the screen where I am able to select what I would like to do. However, before I can select either continuing a game or creating a new one, a pop up says " Error: Sims 3: Into the Future Disc Not Inserted". I am a Mac user and have several other expansion packs, and very unsure what to do. I thought the issue might be with my computer, so I have called Apple, but that was not the case. This message is kinda a last resort and would appreciate any and all help. Thank you!

@proverbs1210  This error is normal for the last few versions of mac OS.  The operating system won't authenticate a TS3 disc, even if it did before.  The solution is simple: uninstall Into the Future and reinstall the digital version through Origin.  Then you won't need a disc to play.

When you uninstall ITF, you'll also need to clean out the hidden library files that the pack has left behind.  Here's a guide:

Then, just to be thorough, run the Super Patch (digital download version) to patch the game to 1.67.

If you happen to get an unknown error message, it will be due to certain packs (Ambitions, Late Night, Fast Lane, and Outdoor Living) not transferring their files over properly.  If you don't have any of these packs, don't worry.  If you do, you can follow the instructions in this video to copy over the relevant files:

Just a note:  Unlike in the Windows version, you won't have to open Origin to launch the game.  You can still just double-click on the ITF icon in Applications.

Edit:  I've moved your post to the dedicated Sims/mac forum.  Please let me know if you need any more help.
