@puzzlezaddict Thanks for the reply - this was a clean install of the game, so nothing in the folders yet. I have moved it to the sims 3 folder to the desktop and still no luck.
Here are my Mac specs:
Operating System: macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 Beta (20B5012d)
Mac Model: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)
Processor: 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Memory: 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB
Don't have any anti virus stuff running and currently just trying to add the base game, will tackle EP's once I can load it!
Let me know if I can provide any other info.
Thanks!

@ad1991 If the base game works, great, let me know how it goes adding one pack at a time. If and when you do run into other issues, try repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 3 icon, and select Repair.
If the base game alone doesn't work, try uninstalling it and reinstalling into a new admin user account on your Mac. Use only letters and numbers, no special characters or accents, in the username.

So I’ve set up a new admin account on my Mac, downloaded the base game again and now when the launcher starts it just goes back to origin...
This is infuriating!
Any advice @puzzlezaddict @MaxisJoe ?

@MaxisJoe So I DO get into the launcher, but when I press play in the launcher, it takes me back to Origin.
I ran that command and got this...

This same problem is happening to me. I wanted to update and redownload origin because my sims 3 was no longer letting me download custom content. so I updated everything, and my launcher comes up, but then I get this message.
Unable to start the game
Your The Sims 3 Base Game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 Expansion Pack. Please update your game via the game launcher.

@MaxisJoe @puzzlezaddict I am having a similar problem except I am on macOS Catalina. I have tried just downloading base game and each of my pack individually and nothing has worked so far. I am able into live mode because it shuts down and returns to Origin within the first minute. I can use CAS no problem. I am horrible with computers and have no idea how to access my specs. I have tried re-downloading and repairing multiple times. I have received the fix and have the CD key.
