Hey,
i dont know what to do anymore... one week ago i bought the sims 3 over MMOGA and installed it with Origin. Everything worked fine until a friend of mine gave me her old addons. i tried to install them and suddenly the "unknown error" thing occured... i googled it and read different things i was supposed to do: simply delete and reinstall it, stop playing it with the launcher, clear the cache and so on. i tried everything, EVERY SINGLE THING and nothing worked. im really upset.... then i had the idea to try to download sims on my old macbook but of course i didnt work because whenever i try to install sims i cant because it says: only available for windows and mac but i have a mac.... i really dont know what to do. i even tried to contact ea but the lady in the live chat couldnt/didnt do anything about my problem/s. id be very thankful if somebody has an idea what to try next.

@helenolin The Unknown Error is to be expected when installing certain packs (Ambitions, Late Night, Fast Lane, Outdoor Living) on a mac. Certain files do not get copied to their proper destination, so you have to do so yourself. You may also want to manually add aliases for each pack if they don't appear in Applications (alongside the alias for your base game).

If you were playing without issue before you added your friend's packs, then you might not need to do anything else. However, if you didn't do a thorough uninstall while you were troubleshooting, it's probably a good idea to do so now, before you try to reinstall. After installing the base game, patch the game using the digital download version of the Super Patch.
