New Patch - Cannot Play Sims

The new patch downloaded and would not let me go online on my origin client. It let me go online on the origin website. The client kept crashing when I would try to take it off offline mode. I uninstalled origin and reinstalled it and now it is saying online is unavailable and it is also saying I have to be online for the first time that I log in - effectively keeping me from being able to play the sims 4. The other issues I see with mac do not seem to be the same as this. What can I do to bypass this and play the sims?
