My sims 3 base game is working but the expansion packs won't?

I downloaded the sims 3 starter pack from origin onto a Mac and it included the base game, late night and high-end stuff, but the packs won't work with the base game but without them the base game works fine???

So the game plays ok if you just have the base game installed but when you add in the packs it doesn't work? What error messages are you getting, if any, or is the screen just sticking at the blue splash screen with plumbob?

What Mac do you have?
