My sims 3 64 bit stuck on the loading screen

Re: My sims 3 64 bit stuck on the loading screen

@classicacosta  Please start with a clean user folder, with no mods or custom content.  I know you want to keep your mods and cc, but it's easier to go piecemeal at this point.  Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, and try loading a new save, just to make sure it still works.  Do not add any mods or cc yet.

If the new save loads, copy the backup version of your problem save to the new folder and see whether it loads.  Don't add any other content unless this "SV updated" takes place in a different version of Sunset Valley, in which case install only that world, nothing else*.  Let me know whether this works, and we can go from there.

If you happen to use AwesomeMod, you'd need to install it too, because saves that have been played with it may not work if it's removed without the proper procedure.  But please try at least once without any other content.

Hey so i did that! loaded a new world however on the loading screen my screen started glitching. So I'm guessing there's something wrong with the game itself or maybe my computer isn't compatible with it?

All mods and all CCS were removed!

Re: My sims 3 64 bit stuck on the loading screen

@classicacosta  Did you change any of the graphics settings?  If you did, please delete options.ini from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and try again, this time leaving the options at their defaults.  If that doesn't help, or you didn't change the settings, try switching to windowed mode at the Main Menu before trying to load a new save.

If that doesn't help either, please attach your deviceconfig.log to a post; it's in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.  (You'll need to manually open the folders; the file won't show up in a search.)  You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.

And a screenshot or video of the issue would be helpful.

Ok, so I attempted to open a new save in a new world that I had not updated and the loading screen went completely black in this case I still have my older folder with mods in the game. I attempted to do the same thing except i took out the mods this time and i was still stuck on the loading screen. In this step I did remove options.ini like asked! So I will now be doing the following steps after.

Ok, so I actually I just tried to do this again with a clean folder and the new save did load!  And then I added my problematic save to this new, clean sims 3 folder and I was stuck on the loading screen. I tried to load my other problematic save (SV Updated) and I was able to get past the loading screen!

@classicacosta Ok so then after this I attempted to add my mods to this new clean sims 3 folder and I tried to load my problematic save SV updated again this time and it didn't work with the mods added to the game. So, I'm guessing the mods are the problem.

Re: My sims 3 64 bit stuck on the loading screen

@classicacosta  Okay, at this point you know one or more mods are the issue, and you just need to sort through them to find out which ones.  Since even a new save won't load with all your mods present, you have an easy test.  You can try your mods in batches, or if you have a lot of them, use the 50/50 method:

https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content#The_50.25_Method

Be sure to delete the five cache files in your Sims 3 user folder any time you add or remove a .package file.  Technically, scriptCache.package is the only one that matters for mods, but if your mods list also includes custom content, the other files matter too:

  • CASPartCache.package
  • compositorCache.package
  • scriptCache.package
  • simCompositorCache.package
  • socialCache.package

Once you've sorted through your Mods folder, you can try to load your existing save again.  Let me know how it goes.
