So I have a MacBook pro 13 inch 2020, four thunderbolt 3 ports
processor 2Ghz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Memory 16 GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4X
Graphics Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB
I'm trying to get back into my saved game that I've had for a while now. In my saved game I have an elder sim, an adult sim who's pregnant, a young adult sim and a toddler. We also have a dog that is blacked out, like my dog aged up to an elder and he turned completely black.
A lot of times I can't get past the loading screen to the saved game, other times it will crash after either a minute of playing or an hour. I'm not sure what to do at this point it's quite frustrating.

@classicacosta Try loading the save in a clean user folder. Move your entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, then open the launcher to create a new folder. Inside the old folder, right-click on the Saves folder and Copy, then open the new Sims 3 folder and Paste. Don't add any other content, at least not yet; just see whether the save loads.
The blacked out dog is probably caused by bad custom content, which should be clear from the results of this test as well.
