You will need to move your game from your Applications folder to the external and go into Origin > Preferences > Installs & Saves and change the game library location to the external. If you are running Catalina make sure you allow any permission windows that pop up during the location change.

No, if you move it to the external your game will just recreate a new one in the Documents > Electronic Arts folder.
