Mac Sims 3 EPs say they're installed when they aren't

★★★★★ Novice

Its super strange. I have done the big reinstall-and-delete-every-file thing for both the Sims 3 and for Origin. I've done Origin reset tool and everything and it still does this. Any ideas anybody?

@Bluebellflora

Just to report in, creating a second profile to install the game and EPs did the trick. Everything is working as expected in the original main profile! Even if it doesn't permanently fix the problem, it is a workaround that definitely works.

You don't need to launch Sims 3 through Origin - have you tried opening it via your Applications folder?

Well I can run The Sims 3 with Ambitions, but because Origin is all weird I can't even redownload the installers for World Adventures or Generations.

To be clear, World Adventures and Generations are not installed or even downloaded despite it saying that they are installed. That is the issue here.

Please run the Origin reset tool and then try downloading and installing again - https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac

I just did that again and it still thinks that World Adventures and Generations are both installed, despite the play button being greyed out.

And you've never, ever had WA and Generations installed on your Mac?

I've had them installed on my computer. I had the base game, WA, Gen, and Amb all installed in probably the wrong order. It didn't work and I deleted the folder instead of using the uninstaller tool. I completely forgot about that until now.

Do you think it could be, like, a product registration problem with EA/Origin?

@CPUGenuis

Using the Uninstaller leaves behind files that you MUST get rid of before attempting a new install. You have to uninstall it manually Standard smile

I've done that too (great website btw).

I'm on support with EA right now. If they can't figure out what is going on I'll go ahead and retry that again.

Cool, let me know if they get you working again. I would be inclined to completely uninstall the whole game and Origin and start all over again.
