Open Origin then click on Origin in the menu bar then Preferences. Click on Advanced then Browse Game Installers. Is the download in the DownloadCache folder that opens up? If so, can you double click on it and install from there?

Okay, so I have the disc version of the base game and several other expansion pack. Unfortunately I lost my CD, and I thought that if I bought a new expansion pack online from Origin I wouldn't need a CD. So I went ahead and purchased it and the installation went fine until I pressed play. It said that it was still downloading, even though the installation was 100% done. I had two choices: press play even though it was "still" downloading or cancel the message. I pressed play and my launcher popped up and demanded the disc from my previous expansion pack, the one I had lost the CD to. The launcher said that the new expansion pack wasn't installed. I'm so confused and I spent a lot of money for it, so when I tried to return it I couldn't. Hope someone will answer this soon as possible. Btw I have mac.

Can you download the digital version of the patch? The link is in my signature below. Once you have downloaded and installed it try launching your game again but from within your Applications folder, not through Origin.

Can you play if you launch the game through your Applications folder rather than Origin?

I downloaded and installed the Sims 3 base game but when I go to play it says "download in progress." The download has been stuck at 100% for two days now and I don't know why. On another post, it told me that downloading the expansion packs that come with the base game would resolve the issue, but I can't do THAT until the base game has finished "downloading!" Help please!

Merged your threads together. If the troubleshooting steps mentioned in my previous post don't work you should try the Origin reset tool - http://help.ea.com/uk/article/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

Which Mac do you have? @pascalehza has a Mac which is not supported due to an incompatible graphics card. I'm wondering whether this issue may be related.
