I just downloaded Sims 4 on my mac

I just bought the Sims 4 last night on my Mac, waited 8 hours for it to download but it would not open. When i press on origin app to open the game the sims icon bounces, the cursor spins and the screen goes to black for a few seconds but then goes back to my desktop. 

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling (needing to wait another 8 hours) as well as checking for updates and pressing 'repair' but it still does the same thing

please help

Can you disable Origin in-game and see if that helps.
