How to switch to online mode

I was in the process of downloading the sims 4 game on my Mac and it stopped downloading because it says its in "offline mode" and I'm not sure how to switch it to online mode to finish downloading my game. Also whenever I click the option to go online it says its not connected. hope someone can help, thanks!

This happens to me all the time..what I would do if it's updating is pause it and then turn Origin off and then continue the the update
