How do i fix "unknown error occurred" after buying the sims 3 on my mac?

I recently just got a new mac laptop and it didn't have anywhere where i could put my sims 3 disk in so i bought the games on origin now after installing and downloading and doing the codes for the games and everything i needed to do to play the game it said "unknown error occurred" and i have been waiting a long time to play my sims games and I'm very frustrated right now because i just spent 20 dollars on this and it would be a real bummer if i put the money into nothing can someone please help me asap
