Household Keeps Disappearing

Hello!
I could use some help. Every time I close the game I lose my entire household even though I saved it. I find the parents in my library, but everything else is gone. This is the 2nd time this has happened. I shouldn't have to keep them on pause 24/7 on my computer.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something I'm doing wrong?
