Re: Failing to Update Sims 4

@radowns

Could you move your Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts to the desktop and then try to update your game?

@BluebellfloraOkay, the legacy version allows me to actually launch Origin and update the game. But once it's updated it just lingers on "installation complete" and won't let me play.

ETA: By the way, I see you've said this is a Yosemite issue. I'm actually running Mojave and have been for a while.

@qrlkode

I'm not stating this is a Yosemite issue, I linked to that post for you to download the legacy client, rather than give you instructions that can already be found elsewhere.

Run the reset tool again now you've managed to update the game.

Right...the post says it's a known Yosemite issue so I'm letting you and other people with Macs know it's also an issue with Mojave. I appreciate the link. I repaired my game and it seems to work now.

@qrlkode

That thread I linked to is for a completely different and specific issue of the games library not connecting in Origin, and server issues, for Yosemite. However, the legacy client is great for solving other, non-specific, issues too Standard smile

I chatted with EA customer service.

She told me to delete the Origin cache. Go to Macintosh HD, Library, Application Support, Origin, then delete DownloadCache folder.

Then uninstall the origin app. Reinstall is using this link https://www.dm.origin.com/mac/download/legacy

You may try to launch the game and it says to repair it. Do that.

This worked for me!

I tried that and it still doesn't work for me - Anyone else have suggestions?
I was going to get the new game pack but as long as it's not going to update, i don't see the point.

not enough hard drive space?

★★ Novice

I have been trying to update my Sims 4 game but it keeps telling me I don't have enough hard drive space for the upgrade. I have over 20gb available.

I have uninstalled Origin and reinstalled it.
I removed my one piece of custom content.

Why won't this update?

@sosocats

Could you move your whole Sims 4 folder to the desktop then try to update?

@Bluebellflora Sorry, I am relatively new to mac still - How do I move the entire Sims to my desktop? I tried pulling it from Applications but it just made a shortcut...
