Game laggy since installing RoM [ Edited ]

I've been running TS4 on this same Macbook Pro for years now, and performance has always been decent. I run it on 1440 resolution with settings all on High, and I usually get about 25-35 FPS.

Since Realm of Magic came out, my FPS has dropped to around 10-15, especially in Glimmerbrook and the Magic Realm.

Is this a bug? Is there anything I can do to fix it? I tried reducing the settings drastically, and it barely helped. With everything on Low, my FPS is still in the same range (10-20).

It's so slow and jittery and takes Sims so long to perform actions that the game is unplayable. Can anyone help?
