Hello. I'm having the same issues described here with my computer freezing when pressing the play button on Sims 4 (screen goes half black / half desktop, etc.). I will provide my specs below, but let me start by saying I cannot currently upgrade to anything above Sierra because it will make other, very expensive, software I run obsolete. Is there any hope that EA will release a patch that fixes the glitch, or do we think this is going to be a permanent problem with the game and Sierra compatibility?
Version: Sierra 10.12.6
MacBook Pro, 2016
Processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB
Thanks!

@alissattack I would hope this isn't a permanent problem, since there are quite a few people like you who can't or don't want to update their OSs. But EA isn't likely to announce anything until it happens. If there isn't a fix in the near future, you could consider installing a later OS on an external hard drive and playing that way. This article by Bluebellflora has an excellent guide for installing Mojave on an external (scroll down a bit), although it could be used to install other OSs as well.

Thanks! I think I might wait a little longer before I try anything, but this is a good option.
