Cant load Sims 4

Hi,

am new to the forum so please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place.

I installed

The Sims™ 4 Digital Deluxe  

But I can't get it to open.

I am using an iMac and my specs are. as follows:

Imac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011)

processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3

Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750 512 MB

the error message I keep getting is:

Unable to start due to missing game data. Please download The Sims 4 Legacy Edition from Origin.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Have you downloaded the Legacy Edition? Your Mac cannot run the current version of the game because it does not support Metal so you need to download Legacy.

many thanks for your answer. 

in the origin app on my Mac it says I have downloaded it but when I click on view in library there is just a black screen.

Eww, not good. Try running the Origin reset tool and see if that fixes it - https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/

Hi again.

so I have tried what you suggested but now I can't even open origin. have tried uninstalling (removing icon to trash and deleting) and re-installing but, nothing.

Any ideas? completely stumped by this.

Trashing the app doesn't uninstall it, you have uninstall manually - https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/

I am really grateful for your help with this.

so I have done the clean uninstall with the link you provided. Do you think I should go ahead and try a new installation of Origin?

Yes. Download a fresh copy from Origin.com/download and see if it works ok.

@Bluebellflora I think my computer is just too old (much like myself!)my operating system is 10.13.6 and I thats as far as support goes.
So I think I'm going to have to give in and ask for a refund.

Aww You should be able to play the Legacy Edition. Can you still not get Origin to work properly?
