Cannot play Sims 3 expansions on my 2016 MacBook Pro

Hello,

I have been playing Sims 3 on Macs (late-2011 MacBook Pro and a 2015 iMac) since 2012.  However, when I tried to download the expansion packs on my new 2016 MacBook Pro, the icons will either not show up at all, or I get an "unknown" disc error.  Note that I have been running the super patch 1.67.20 prior to downloading the expansion packs and the base game will run and play by itself, but not after installing even one expansion pack.

Can you point me in the right direction to getting the game with expansion packs to work?
