Cannot download Sims 4 Update

I keep getting this error:

Origin is not able to download The Sims™ 4 to /Users/manageduser/Applications/The Sims 4.app/Contents/__Installer/Touchup_DiP_STAGED.

Please check that the location is available or cancel and restart the download to another location.

I'm on Mojave 10.14.6

I've taken these steps:

1. I've trashed the partially downloaded update file in the package contents of MacOS, still will not download.

2. I've reset Origin, still will not download. Get the same error.

3. I've tried changing the location fo the downloads to maybe download to another folder and then copy tot he package contents of MacOS.

4. I've changed file permissions on the applications folders as to alleviate any permission issues with origin download the file into a separate user's account.

I've spent about 90 minutes trying to get this to work. I'm stumped.

It happens with a corrupted download. The only sure fire fix is to uninstall and reinstall the game.
