Hi
I have just installed the sims 3 onto my MacBook Air 13-inch 2018, it runs:
macOS Mojave version. 10.14.3
it has a 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5
8GB memory
startup; Macintosh HD
Graphics; Intel UHD Graphics 617 1536 MB
I have tried everything from sudo purging before launch, restarting origin and turning off enable origin in game I've tried launching through origin and even without origin, ive tried following the instructions online about graphic cards and even changed it to TS3 in the info.ppl, it still won't even launch the blue screen and just comes up with unknown error and I have no idea what to do to launch the game, I only have the base game installed and no expansion packs so I really dont know what to do can anyone help????

@ELLAMARSHMALLOW I've split your post into its own thread, since the details in the other one were a bit different, and the thread was a bit old.
Have you installed expansions at any point? Even if you uninstalled them later, you'll still have leftover library files from those packs, and that can cause the unknown error message. The uninstaller that comes with TS3 doesn't remove those files; you'll have to delete them yourself. Here's how:

Once you've done so, install the base game only, and run the Super Patch (digital download version) to manually patch the game to 1.67. If you've never installed any packs, just run the Super Patch and try to launch the game.

If you still get an unknown error, you'll need to edit the game's .sgr files to add your graphics card to the database. Bluebellflora has already prepared the text for an Intel UHD 617; all you need to do is add her text to your own files. You can find it in the link below—click on "Intel UHD Graphics 617." Be sure to edit both graphicscards and graphicsrules.

By the way, there's no need to run TS3 through Origin. You can launch the game directly through Applications, without ever opening Origin at all.

@ELLAMARSHMALLOW Okay, the pack issues are normally much easier to solve. I can write out general directions, but it's probably more efficient for you to list the packs you've installed (and any you'd like to install) so I can give you specifics.

@ELLAMARSHMALLOW Okay, if it's just Late Night and Pets, then you need to apply two workarounds. First, create an alias for Late Night in Applications\The Sims 3, alongside the alias for the base game:
https://bluebellflora.com/sims-3-packs-not-showing-as-installed/
Second, copy a folder for Late Night into the folder for Pets. These two folders are buried within the program files, but this video shows you where to find them. (Be sure to right-click and select Copy, rather than just dragging and dropping.)
If you install any of Ambitions, Fast Lane, or Outdoor Living, the same two fixes need to be applied. If you install a pack that's newer than Pets by the date EA released it, you'll need to copy the folder for Late Night (and any of the other three affected packs) into the folder for that newest pack.
