Re: [CURRENT ISSUE 64-bit] red flashing game window

I consistently reproduced this issue while placing several specific premade bin houses on lots in Edit Town.  Of all the premade houses, only four produced this issue for me.  The affected houses are:

  • The Hot Pad
  • Panopticon Luxury Home
  • Impeccable Manor
  • A Doll's House

I tested the houses on several different lots in Sunset Valley, at multiple resolutions in both fullscreen and windowed modes.  This was tested in a new clean folder.

Oh, and the game crashed once when I placed The Hot Pad.  I think it was just sick of my experiments though.

I'm zooming in and out when the the screen flashes red, I zoom in/out until I don't see red anymore, sometimes it crashes the game.

Me too! This is exactly what has been happening to me. I am playing on a self-built house on Isla Paradiso. It is a large house on a large lot. If I go into the map or into another lot it disappears. I will try to modify the graphics settings to see what happens, but it's kind of bumming me out, cause I love that house.

Re: [CURRENT ISSUE 64-bit] red flashing game window

@borjagq  Please attach your deviceconfig.log, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.  You'll neeed to manually open the folders; the file won't show up in a search.  You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.

If you're willing, I'd love to take a look at the house myself as well.  You can evict your sims and then save the empty house to the in-game bin (click on it to see the options).  There will be a corresponding entry in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Library; although the entries are all cryptically named, you can find the one you want by its date modified, which will match the time when you saved.  Please also let me know the address of the lot where the house is placed in your game.

If you don't want your sims to be affected by the eviction, wait until you're ready to quit.  Save your game, evict the sims and save the lot, then quit without saving.

Re: [CURRENT ISSUE 64-bit] red flashing game window

★★★ Guide

It just happened in my game for the first time.

I am playing an old save - from 27 Feb 2012.  It is on a small custom world and the family has horses.

The red flash happened when I moved the camera down to the basement.  They seem to have two levels of basement - I have forgotten so much about this house. The red went away when I moved up a level.  The game saved with no problem.

I’m sorry, @puzzlezaddict ! I got to solve it by lowering the Texture Detail. That fixed the whole thing. However, the game was so buggy that I decided to remove all the game files and start a new game. I don’t have the files anymore. I’m sorry I can’t be helpful!

Re: [CURRENT ISSUE 64-bit] red flashing game window

★ Guide

I get the red screen when I zoom out. If I zoom back in, it goes away. The whole screen doesn't go red, just parts of it. It's as though there is a huge red object that the camera is either in front of or behind.

Red screen lots

★★★ Novice

I have the 64 bit version of the sims 3, its pretty glitchy but most of the glitches dont bother me, except one, on most lots that I play on when i zoom out just a bit from the house my screen turns red and it just flashes red until i zoom back in. Anyone else have this?

Re: [CURRENT ISSUE 64-bit] red flashing game window

@Damos19  I've merged your post with the master thread for this issue.  Please click Me Too on the first post.  I'd be interested to know which lots are affected as well, that is if they're premade lots I could look at myself.

Please also attach your deviceconfig.log, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.  You'll neeed to manually open the folders; the file won't show up in a search.  You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.
