After entering serial code, continue button won't light up

I recently got a new computer, a mac, and I downloaded origin so i could play my sims games. Unfortunately every time i try to install the sims 3 base game, I'm given a serial code and then I go through the steps of installing until i enter my serial code where I enter it, and it is right, and the continue button will not light up as if i have entered nothing into the serial code area. So that leaves me stuck at that step to install the game, can someone please help.

Make sure you're not muddling up 8 and B, O and 0 etc. If it still won't work after trying different characters you will need to contact EA customer support - http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/

That is not the problem because I copy it directly from the origin screen that gives me the serial code.
