Just an update: I got it to work!
After several different attempts what I did was:
Turn off iCloud Drive
Move the Electronic Arts folder to desktop and start the game.
Turn off Retina display
I've tried this before, but it didn't work until now.
It's been a few hours and everything is working fine with CC and Mods.

I have the same computer and I'm having the same problem. The sims 4 is completely unplayable I have all the problems that you listed and I've tried and the solutions on this thread and it doesn't work. does anybody have any idea as to why my game is acting like that. all my graphic settings are on medium because that's what they were before and the game was running smooth but after buying a couple expansion packs the game is just broken. SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP
The game was playing smoothly a couple of days ago but after downloading city living and some other expansions it's just unplayable. I move the folder to the desktop and it doesn't work. I turn retina off it doesn't work. I repair the game it doesn't work. I uninstall the game and it doesn't work. SOS someone please help I just want to play the sims 4.
