can't become companionship with my pets for the PS4

Hi I'm currently playing on a PlayStation 4.

I'm trying to get the become companion with a animal. 

I have adopted a pet and then became good friends and still the option never came up.

I became friends with  a pet then adopted it still the option never came up.

the I edited the family and added pets to the household and become friends with the pets. The option still never came up.

Im at a lost.

Note I have been able to correct bad behavior.

I'm not sure of the PS4 layout but on PC look to the upper left corner. you should see [ALL BOARDS] Click it and it will list out all of the forum boards.

I'm so happy. I'm not sure how, but I was able to become companion with my pets.
