Hey all,

Firstly, I want to assure you that I hear you. I know that console Simmers are having a hard time of it currently, and I want to assure all of you that investigations are already well underway to address these concerns with the console control scheme. I also want to reiterate that this thread is being monitored by both myself and other members of the Sims team, please don't mistake my lack of activity in this thread as complacency or worse, that I'm ignoring it. The simple truth is that I can't really say much at this stage as there are constantly changing variables behind the scenes.

When updates come in this thread, I want them to be substantial and meaningful and not simply "Looking into it still", that type of "update" doesn't help anyone.

I also need to remind you that constructive feedback and criticism is always welcome here, we can't improve if you don't tell us where we need to make those improvements. What isn't allowed or tolerated here are attacks on the development teams, or that attack others in any way. If you make a well spoken, thought out post in this thread and then cap it off with "in short, EA is trash" I have to remove your entire post, and I hate doing it. So please, keep it constructive so I can keep it in the thread.

I'm also aware that this thread has been brought up on Twitter, and I will address those concerns as well. The main reason that posts have been removed in this specific thread has been moderation discussion, not trolling, abuse, rudeness, or any of our other forum guidelines. I've said this already, but I'll say it again: I don't want to remove any of your posts but if you can't abide by the rules of the forum I have no other option available to me than removing it. I've seen too many people get the "one-two punch" of having a post removed, being warned for it and then immediately coming back to complain that their posts were removed, which escalates you from a simple warning to a suspension. Moderation here works on an escalating scale based on the number and severity of infractions, 99% of the time you're just going to get a warning and a reminder to keep things civil and constructive. Please don't force us to suspend your access to the site, none of us want that.

If your post is removed simply send a DM to the CM that removed it, it was probably me and I'm more than happy to discuss why it was removed and what you can do to make sure your posts aren't removed in the future. Again, we want your feedback, and I absolutely hate removing it for any reason.

Sorry for the long post, I really am trying to do everything I can to make you feel heard here because I want you to feel comfortable posting here when something is wrong, please help me help you with that.

@EA_Cade Thank you for the response and clarification! Totally understandable that you can’t confirm or talk about anything that’s happening but it’s very appreciated to know that we’re not just talking to ourselves!

As a partly console player, I must say it was really hard to get even used to playing when I got Sims for console. Therefore changing it twice really didn't help, since I already had muscle memory. What would help me is if all of these changes were just reverted back. I think its the best and most simple solution. It was working. Really no need for any change

Reverting the console control scheme back to how it was pre January 31st patch is something I've brought up before to the team. I know the majority of posters here and in the old thread have provided this exact feedback, and it's one of the options currently on the table for discussion.

This isn't confirmation that the controls will be reverted, this is simply me telling you that I've heard this feedback loud and clear and its been communicated up the chain as such.

@EA_Cade I think a good idea would be to actually get console players feedback before these changes are implemented. It seems a waste of time and resources to have change controls only to have to change them all back months later. It could have all been avoided simply by asking our thoughts. Or at least offered an option in game to switch to “classic controls” then people can decide which they prefer!

Thank you for your responses

I completely agree, and I've provided this feedback to the team as well.

I hope that we can get some more information out soon on what our future plans look like, and that we can find a good way for you all to provide your feedback on the specifics of the controls, whether that be an email/main menu survey or a targeted message to come to this thread.

You deserve to be and feel heard.

@EA_Cade Firstly! I just want to say a thank you for responding twice but I think just asking console simmers what they want, maybe like the survey you guys did regarding CAS for console on the main menu but its a huge waste of time and resources for it to be changed, we complain and it ends up being reversed. Perhaps the same resources could be used to ask the sims community what they want. Or perhaps even a toggle to go back to legacy controls (on by defeult) or just reverse it pre-jan 30th for everyone. I have a little cousin who loves this game on her console but the recent changes have restricted her access to it.

So I hope you guys can change it and be more transparent.

@mumofharry I tried that, it keeps collapsing the menu instead.
