How to change controller controls to before patch?

★★ Novice

I haven’t played the Sims 4 since around May 27th, I just came back today, June 4th. I was excited to play and tried switching the gameplay speed on ps5 as I normally do, with R1 and L1. It switched my character. Now R2 and L2 change the time? What is this? This terrible and incredibly frustrating. I have been playing with R1 and L1 as the time changer for years. It’s embedded into my brain so much that I am having too much trouble adjusting. Please help.

Absolutely HATE how you reverted the build and buy controls. Having the catalogue open permanently was an amazing option for those of us who build with debug items. Even though the update says that the catalogue should open on the last item you viewed, that's not happening with debug items.

I don't understand why devs can't just offer a control option in game for simmers to choose which B&B control system they prefer

@leicester93 Completely agree. Hugely disappointed that they reverted this

I HATE HATE HATE the unnecessary controller bumper change update (switching between sims and pausing/speeding up time) with console. My brain is so confused and I get so frustrated trying to remember the controls. PLEASE put it back to the way it was. I’m begging. I’ve been playing this game for 6 years now and my muscle memory with how I play is completely messed up. Terrible. -728/10 honestly. Myself and plenty of other people have spent hundreds of dollars on this game, only to be disappointed. If something doesn’t need changed, why change it? This is how we’ve been playing for years.

I really really wish I could understand why you guys decided that changing anything on the buttons on the controller was a good idea. : (

I've been playing this game for almost 6 years now. Our muscle memory is used to those buttons for YEARS!!! It's absolutely annoying when something is changed because it bugs our brains.

I tried to play the game yesterday and gave up in 15 minutes after getting absolutely frustrated at how unable to put in my mind that the RB-LB and RT-LT buttons are now inverted and kept pressing the same buttons over and over again even if I knew it was wrong. This made me so upset because I was finally getting to play the game after more than one week. But the buttons change is annoying in so many levels and made the game totally unplayable to me! I gave up trying and decided I'll be unable to play the game until the buttons are back to what they used to be. It's sad for me because I was so eager to play it, but I spent like 15 minutes trying to convinve my brain to stop making me press the wrong buttons. But muscle memory is a pain when it's been used to the same moves for half a decade.

Not only I beg you guys to revert this frustrating change but I also beg you to NOT change anything on the buttons anymore unless the console community REALLY does want something to change. Which we don't. Most of us want the controls to keep unchanged because we're already used to them for years now. It was perfect how it used to be years ago, there's no need for a change. Reverting the change would be appreciated by the whole console community. : )

I mean my build mode had been glitched for a while but that's been fixed. I do wish you had just left the controls alone, it's been so weird to press the button I usually do for example the pause button. I've been playing for about 8 years on console so it's just awkward now.

The controls are very difficult to use. They make gameplay less fun and more a challenge, especially the live mode. Taking screenshots has become something I’d like to avoid, however it’s the biggest part of my gameplay. Zooming in/out changes the time speed/pauses the game. I can’t see why the controls for changing the time speed and which sim is selected where reversed. We never were able to switch between sims in CAS with L1/R1, we had to click on them. L1/R1 only switched between outfit categories.

Build mode was somewhat improved, but having to do additional steps do be able to do what one intends to, is unnecessary. Wanting to change to “Free placement” opens the Search bar. Wanting to undo something, opens the search bar. Now I have to place the items, close the catalogue and then change to free placement (using L2). I haven’t found any additional step, way or solution for undoing something without opening the search bar. I don’t understand why controls, that had stayed the same for 6 years (!) and everyone was accustomed to, had to be changed without  taking the opinion of people who actually play on console into account. The changes were unnecessary and did more harm than any good for the players. Playing Sims isn’t the same anymore and isn’t as fun as it was before, because dealing with those controls is challenge.

I hope you’ll listen to the feedback of console players and change the controls back. We don’t and we never needed the changes in first place, even if that might have been something that should have helped us console players. Since it hasn’t improved our gaming experience in the Sims, please change them back to how they were before. Please.

I think I must be the only person who actually likes the control changes. They took time to get used to but I actually think they make A LOT more sense. maybe you could offer something in the settings to change the controls back to what they were so people can have a choice of how they want to play

Why can’t you guys just own up to your mistake? Everyone at this point just want the controls back to how they used to be. I don’t know if you know this, but ignoring us is worse than speaking about the issue.
