Sims not responding to tasks

This is beyond frustrating, every time I play the game glitches. It's not playable, the sims don't respond to tasks given and they don't take care of themselves. It takes hours to eat 1 meal and 4 hours to take a bath. sims are told to feed their baby and either take hours (game play) before they respond, don't respond at all or once the kids gets food the food disappears and the kids doesn't eat.

The sims can't be controlled so there is no point of playing.

Can someone please fix this? Sims 3 was really fun and had very minimal issues... really wish I didn't buy this game.

Me too, they will stand face to face for an  hour and a half before the animation kicks in and they start talking, or cooking takes 2 hours, etc...  Or they will stand stock still for a couple in game hours with items in que, not doing anything.  It gets worse the longer I play the game and improves on shutting down the system for a few minutes to clear cache, but gets worse with playing longer than 30 minutes, or traveling a few times, etc...
