PS4 Controller Issues on PC F1 24

★★★★★ Newbie

Hello, I’m experiencing an issue with F1 24 on PC using my PS4 controller. When the controller is connected via USB, it functions perfectly. I’ve disabled Steam Input, so the game shows the correct PS4 button prompts, and everything runs smoothly. However, when I connect the controller wirelessly via Bluetooth, F1 24 fails to recognize it entirely. I can’t navigate the menus or play the game when connected this way, even though the controller stays connected and works in other games that support PS4 controllers.

Using Steam’s controller settings (Steam Input) allows the controller to work wirelessly in F1 24, but this results in Xbox button prompts instead of PS4 ones, making it difficult to learn the game. I’d like to use the controller wirelessly without Steam Input enabled to maintain accurate PS4 button mapping.

To address this issue, I attempted to use DS4Windows to emulate a wired PS4 controller while connected via Bluetooth. This typically forces games to recognize the controller as if it were connected through USB, ensuring correct button mapping. However, F1 24’s anti-cheat system blocks DS4Windows, preventing this workaround from being effective.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Disabled Steam Input (controller works correctly when wired, fails when wireless).
  • Enabled Steam Input for wireless use (controller works, but displays Xbox prompts).
  • Installed and uninstalled DS4Windows (blocked by the anti-cheat).
  • Confirmed the issue does not occur in other games with PS4 controller support.

Attachments:

  • Image of the controller working when wired (attached).
  • Image of the controller not working when connected wirelessly (attached).
  • Normal Prompts when wired no steam input
  • Stuck unresponsive controller not interacting with f1 when wireless no steam input
  • XBox prompts when using steam input to be able to use PS4 Controller wirelessly

Expected Result:
The PS4 controller should function the same wirelessly as it does when wired, with correct PS4 button prompts and full in-game functionality.

Actual Result:
The controller is unresponsive when connected via Bluetooth, despite functioning in other games that support PS4 controllers. When using Steam Input, the game only displays Xbox prompts.

Request:
If there’s a fix or workaround for this issue, or an option to adjust the button prompts while using Steam Input, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention!
