Store Sims3Pack files become invalid depending on launch method

I just saw the pinned post by EA Cade about fixes done to TS3 Store content. I've tested that myself, and it looks like the downloaded Sims3Pack files become invalid depending on how you launch the game. Here's a video showing what's happening: https://youtu.be/dkyRb_q0yiU

I first launch the game using the EA App's user interface. Sims3Pack files all work fine, meaning they have their thumbnails properly displayed.

After that I launch the game using the shortcut created by EA App during the game install, and after that, all the Sims3Pack files become broken, as you can see from boxes as thumbnails, which is a sign of broken Sims3Pack files.

I also show the EA App version in the video.

This was all done on a clean install of The Sims 3. It didn't exist on this machine before. There was nothing under Documents/Electronic Arts. Everything was done on a clean install.

Also, after a few hours, no matter the launch method, the downloaded Sims3Pack files became broken. I have no way of recording that as it happened randomly.

Bonus: Unrelated to the Store content issues, The Sims 3 page on EA App is stuck on infinite loading loop on my machine. I will attach a screenshot of that as well. I have The Sims 3 base game and all expansion and stuff packs. The base game was registered with a Steam CD key a few years ago. I also have EA Play subscription from PC Game Pass.

Because of this infinite loop, I can only launch the game by double clicking on it, or through the executable. Just wanted to report this issue as well.

Thank you and kind regards...

Hiya @Rsandaa,

We had a miscommunication that lead to some confusion on when that fix was actually going live, it should be rolling out to everyone within the next 2 hours though.

Could you ensure that you're on the latest EA app version (12.115.0.5372) please and try the workaround one more time?

@Rsandaa   I've been having store items uninstalling themselves. This started about December 10. Game was in Origin and worked the night before. I sat down started the game and all store items were little brown boxes. I spent the whole next day trying every thing I could think of to get the game to work under Origin. Next day after several hours I gave up. Nothing was working. Later that night I figured EA wants me to use the EA app so I already had the EA BETA installed and I spent another 4 hours only to find out that doesn't work. Somewhere I ran across a post that said to download a fresh installer for the EA app. So I downloaded a fresh installer and installed the EA app only this one had just EA across the top. When I started the game under this new EA app the game still had issues. At this point I had nothing to loose but start from scratch. I uninstalled the game and deleted the game user files. I installed the game that night and the base base looked good. The next day I discovered the downloads dashboard. I downloaded a dozen  or so items from the store and rebooted the computer. To my amazement the store items were still there. I installed the rest of my store items. The next day after trying the game I thought I had a solution. The game seemed stable. That night I reinstalled my wife's game. She no longer had the Sims 3 withdrawal. I have rid Eden of the evil snake and all was good in the world again. Fast forward to about February 2. I come home and wife has that crazy look in her eyes again. I start up my computer and all store items are little brown boxes. This happened under Origin and now the EA app. I thought I couldn't go back. So I spent that night and the next day trying everything I can think of. The EA app was now doing the same thing Origin was doing. Wife was starting to get bad now and I really wanted something to eat so I figured I'd reinstall Origin. Origin went through some updates and I installed the game. Base game was good under Origin. Next day when wife was at work I spent installing store items and testing. Everything was good in Sim Town. Wife got home and had a happy look in her eyes. I had rid Eden of the evil snake again. I case your wondering I had i big juicy steak that night. I played the game for about an hour and I notice there was a big difference since I last used it. Frb 15 and both the Sims 3 and Sims 4 are running stable under Origin. For Sims 3 I did notice the I had downloaded a sim from the Exchange and when the store items disappeared the downloaded sim did not hmmm...  I spent a couple hours with TS3 and the EA app and it look like I may have to do a clean reinstall with the EA app. I figure I'll have to switch it back to the EA app sooner or later but at least now it works under Origin (just checked), We are expecting a rain-sleet-snow (4-6 inches maybe) event starting tonight. Hey - the weatherman is NEVER wrong. That means the Jeep is probably get a work out tomorrow. Now remember kids as Hopalong Cassidy used to say - make sure you wear your goloshes tomorrow and listen to your parents.

Hello there. Thanks for clearing that up. Just tested it, and so far it seems like it's working. Thanks to the people that worked on this fix, and thanks to the CMs that brought this up to the devs attention. <3

Unrelated to this issue, the other issue I mentioned, which is infinite loading on EA App, still persists. As of now, I don't think I have a way to view how many hours I actually played this game, since the panel I posted on the screenshot is constantly stuck as loading. I am on 12.115 as well. If it helps, I have TS3 base game from Steam CD key, and EA Play from Xbox Game Pass.

Also, while you are here, edit-in-game in Create a World appears like still doesn't work on EA App. Create a World is not only a great creative outlet for players to express themselves, but it also a great tool that players use to fix issues they have with worlds. Please consider providing a fix for this as well.

Thank you and kind regards
