Unable to log-in to Spore

I recently bought a retail copy of Spore. I then installed it and tried to login but it turns out I already had a Spore account from 2008 which I didn't realise. I then attempted to log-in using my detail but I get the You do not have the proper spore.com privileges error. I tried to fix this by deleting the login file and then adding my Spore.com username but I still get the exact same error.

Help would be appreciated.
