Spore won't open after trying to update

I tried to download a Spore update and now the game won't launch. It keeps asking me if I want to download an update. If I click no, the game quits. If I click yes, it starts to download then gives me the following error message: "Some of the files have been modified! Please reinstall." However, no matter how many times I restart the application, it still gives me the same message. I tried to chat with support but the chat window was bugged-- all I could see was a blank popup. Even when I could open Spore, I was never able to login to my account. I'm afraid that completely uninstalling and reinstalling Spore will erase all of my creations... Help!
