Is it possible to connect to Sporepedia on the Steam Version?

I've seen fixes involving methods that tell you to use other platforms, but I would REALLY appreciate not having to download anything else as my computer is rather low on free space currently. My Steam name is [TUSF] Varhastra in case EA needs to verify my account or something.

There is no need to download anything else. The game must be added to your Origin library, but does not need to be downloaded from there. As long as it's listed, the Spore servers will see it, and allow you to register.
