Bug with spore galactic

I own the game pass and have downloaded Spore. I then bought the add-on galactic conquest however it seems that the game addon doesn't work. Am i missing a few vital steps here?

Make sure to always launch the game via the orange Galactic Adventure launcher icon. Do not use the regular blue game icon to launch the game, it can corrupt your data.

Also make sure both the base game and expansion are installed from the same store/launcher, i.e. if you use Origin for one then you must use Origin for both.
