Tourists Drop to 0 after 2.0 Patch

The patch should have addressed Tourism issues; however, I now have Zero Tourist.  I have deleted and  turned off/on attractions, ports, bus stations, and exited the game many times.  Still 0 Toursits visiting.  Also built a casino after the patch and 0 people visiting it.

 

Please tell me your fix didn't break something.

After the 2.0 I was having a lot of tourists on the re placed casinos, but after a power outage and the build of a Bus Station, low and mid tourist dropped to 0... right now I only have high wealth tourists

Same here.  I had Expo Center, Casino and Willis Tower, all were doing okay.  Post-patch now my city is dead and largely beyond fixing because my tourism dropped to nothing and my income dropped away with it.  I see no way of recovering my city without a huge cash influx from an outside source and repurposing my entire city to some other form of specilization.

i demolished all my casinos and built new ones (just to make sure they were taking full advantage of 2.0... the sleek and sci fi seem to be doing better, but the elegant still never seems to turn a profit for some reason... still like -100K/day...  and not that i expect it to always be as easy as pie but you get the sense from this game that things we perceive as errors are just that--errors--not things that were coded by design to make the game challenging...

 

bottom line looks like this is still broken as are several other things based on what I'm seeing in these posts.. plus some new bugs...

So I made a new city a few days ago. Came back to try 2.0 and build the city i always wanted to a Tourism - Gambling city. It was a roller coaster but eventually I got the city to be stable making betwen 10k and 29k at its peek per hour. I had about 7980 tourists per day and it was fantastic. (keyword was)

 

I paid the 1 million cash for the international Airport to be built then built a recycling plant in my city for the materials to send to the Great Work. After about 4 hours i was halfway with the materials. (i was importing the crude oil at the trade depot and finished the 250k barrels rather quickly.)

 

The sound effects and music started becoming intermittent as it usually happens (still praying for a fix) so i restarded the game.

 

I couldnt see any of the other people connected to my city when i loaded up ( usually their icons are located on the bottom left of the User Interface). So to fix this i loaded my neighboring city.

 

NOW ... GET THIS....

 

When i loaded up my neighboring city that i own... The "CUT THE RIBBON" "Unlocked International Airport" window appeared and sure enough ... THE GREAT WORK WAS BUILT.

 

Here's the problem ... it was still at least 6-8 hours away from having enough Metal and Alloy when i rebooted the game from my casino city....

 

I swap back to my CASINO city and the International Airport is just as i had left it... It was showing up as around 50% completed materials wise.

 

After playing a few more hours ...

 

Tourist Attendance went from 7980 to 126

 

I had gone from making 29k per hour to negative -36k

 

 

ALL 126 TOURISTS that are left are HIGH WEALTH Tourists.

 

 

 

Anyone have a solution?

There is no fix to this. I have the same exact problem and have started both a new casino city and bulldozed my old casino city just to see if that worked. In short neither worked. 

 

It all started fine and was making a fine profit with casinos, then after about an hour or two worth of play my tourist/casino went from making a hefty profit to being in the red. I've tried everything to fix this but it's bugged for sure. 

 

One more thing I'd like to point out is this was the exact same result prior to patch 2.0. Nothing is different, when profiting the profits were a bit higher but the exact same bug is happening so in essence they didn't fix anything. 

 

We need to keep this thread bumped so the Devs can actually see what is happening rather than just putting a band aid over it and calling it "fixed"

Interesting.  I have been playing around with a brand new tourist town started after 2.0 and this is my experience so far:

 

City has been fairly profitable most of the time making a good deal of profit and almost hitting $400k mark in one day.

 

I had a good chunk of tourists coming in, 3 gambling halls, 1 sci-fi casino making good profit.

 

Built a sleek casino and it did great.  Built a second sleek casino and it was also doing good, the sci-fi casino at this time kinda died off.

 

Built an elegant casino and it was making a ton of money.  Lots of high wealth tourists at all three higher end casinos.

 

Built up the casino HQ, added more tourist attraction and hotels to the casinos.  Built up my commerce sector a bit with some high density stuff.

 

Waited a few game days and casinos started dying off.  High wealth tourists are all running off.  Not getting hardly any more of those.  Low wealth tourists are still in decent numbers and medium wealth come in huge floods from time to time buying every item in every store and filling up all my casinos at once.  But, the lack of high wealth is still causing an overall loss for the day.  $100k loss a day for the past two days.

 

I have a theory as to why my high wealth tourist numbers are so low even though I have 2 things that say they attract 2000 high wealth tourists a day.  Somewhere I read that shops increase your tourist attraction and all my high wealth shops turned into hotels.  I'm guessing that the hotels don't give any tourist attraction at all so when you get in a large number of tourists and your shops turn into hotels, the incoming tourist amounts start going down.  It seems like there is some kind of tourist capacity based on the commercial buildings in your town.

 

I just tested that theory out and put some parks down and a high density high wealth shop built up.  Before they could even hire employees a cruise ship rolled in with 600 or so high wealth tourists.  A few hundred left because the stores were closed and not enough room in the casinos.  They complained about "No hotels" as they went back to the cruise ship port.  Now that is a problem because I have plenty of hotels.  And my high wealth store just turned itself into yet another hotel because of this false complaint.

mithkabob,  the hotel thing interesting, and that is my exact theory too.  My suggestion would be to plop more tourist attractions to compensate.  I haven't tested this though, but I would think that having your casinos on the route between your transport links and the attractions would seem a logical next step.

I am still getting a decent supply of high wealth tourists 2 days after my last high wealth shop turned into a hotel again.

 

$250k profit first day.

$100k profit second day.

 

Strange... will keep running it to see if anything changes.  If not, I will try exiting and coming back into the town to see if that is a factor.

 

Edit: I just realised that I still had High Wealth stores, they were just abandoned from not enough shoppers.  I have no where near the high wealth pop to sustain them, but apparently they can still attract tourists.
