@SightedBike273 - Thanks for the info, can you please tell me what the error message is?

Are you logged in to Origin on the same account you used to purchase SimCity?

  • Log in to your account at https://www.ea.com/
  • Go to Account Settings > Order History
  • Verify that your SimCity purchase is there

If your purchase is listed as "Completed", make sure you're logged in to the same account in Origin.

Log out completely from Origin - choose Origin menu > Exit

Log in to Origin - make sure it's the same account as the one where you purchased SimCity

Allow Origin to complete any updates available

If you still have a problem, this type of thing usually happens because something is blocking the download.

Always run installation files "As Administrator"
Firewall and Antivirus - Make sure Origin.exe is added to exception lists.
Graphics drivers and OS are patched and updated to newest versions
Origin.exe - Set to run "as administrator"
Nahimic from MSI - this is an audio management program that comes with MSI motherboards. Disable or uninstall it. Nahimic 2 & 3 are known to cause this issue.

Definitely post back and let us know whether you got it to work. If not, please provide detailed information about what is happening.

  1. Is there an error message, and what is it?
  2. Is Origin online?

@SightedBike273 - Need a bit more information before helping. Are you playing on Mac or PC? What OS (Windows 10, MacOS Big Sur, etc)? Did you just purchase SimCity, or have you played it before? When and where did you purchase SimCity? Do you have an EA Play subscription? What does the error message say?

In general, make sure that Origin.exe is added to exception lists for anti-virus & anti-malware, and set it to run "As Administrator". Make sure you are connected online - you can check in the Origin menu. If you have the MSI audio management software Nahimic running, disable or uninstall it.

If you continue to have issues downloading or installing SimCity 2013, please reply back with details requested.

Hi there! I'm on Windows 10 and bought the game in December 2019.
