As posted in the Combat in the Fallen Empire Blog , Absorb will now become a tertiary stat like Shield. One of the changes we will be seeing is the removal of the Surge stat as it will be tied into the Crit stat. The stated reason for this change was "hating that you have to get both Critical Hit Rating and Surge just to make the stats effective". My question is why is Absorb becoming a tertiary stat when it requires another stat, Shield, to be effective just like the Crit/Surge combo but we are simplifying how crit works? With this new system you will need to split your enhancements between two stats that directly work together thus making it even harder to gear some tanks such as Powertechs/Vanguards as those tanks relay greatly on shielding attacks rather then dodging attacks. Is Absorb going to be seeing a function change? Is the formula for how Shield chance and Absorb percentage going to become more forgiving? Please explain the reasoning behind this change.
