The problem is you don't know what day you missed. It's easy: to get the last day you must get one count each day so for today 4th of February you should get a count of 4.

Agree this system is confusing, but starting from day one would mean losing all the other rewards. Instead it should have a count of "days missed" or a greyed out last day and previous rewards so we know we can't get them. Easy fix indeed, avoids all confusion.

You don't have to run the race: I've had days where I've collected the bonus on Fame or R$ but then hadn't had the time to actually use it, and still collected the final pot of gold at the end of the month.
