  • Reduced the spawn wave timer on Strike from 10 to 5 seconds.

Blast on Crait
We’re expanding the ways you can play on Crait by bringing this map to the Blast Game Mode! Battle in the mines among the machinery and crystals leftover from the previous occupants.

 



Iden Versio’s TIE/In fighter
Now available as a new Hero Starfighter in multiplayer matches! Iden Versio leads by example from her personal TIE/ln fighter. Custom-built for Inferno Squad, this modified TIE has seen heroic service in the name of the Emperor.

 



Iden Versio’s TIE/In fighter Abilities:

  • Afterburner - Gives the starfighter a temporary speed boost and breaks enemy missile lock. The AFTERBURNER can be cancelled after a short time
  • Laser Barrage - Charges up a rapid fire barrage which deals high damage
  • Dual Proton Torpedoes - Fires two proton torpedoes which track the locked target and deal high damage
  • Inferno Leader – For the duration of INFERNO LEADER, all enemies within a radius are revealed to allied players. These enemies receive increased damage from all sources


TIE/In fighter Star Cards:

  • Engine Heat Dissipator - Decreases the AFTERBURNER cooldown
  • Advanced Torpedoes - Increases DUAL PROTON TORPEDO damage
  • Vengeful Barrage - Increases the damage of LASER BARRAGE
  • Flight Commander - Increases the duration of INFERNO LEADER
  • Reinforced Hull - Increases the total health of the starfighter

Wookiee Warrior

  • Reduced Bowcaster center projectile damage multiplier from 1.3 to 1
  • Lowered Bowcaster fall off distance at the start from 20 to 10 meters & at the end from 30 to 25 meters
  • Reshuffled Bowcaster explosion damage and projectile damage to make falloff have higher effect
  • Increased Bowcaster heat per shot

Specialist

  • Reduce size of scope glint

  • Fixed a bug where both the Officer’s Recharge Command and Finn’s Big Deal abilities were not affecting Heroes or Special Units properly
  • Fixed an issue where each sector on the minimap would not light up properly the first time an enemy fired
  • Reduced fade in time for a minimap sector from 0.3 to 0.1 seconds

Heroes and Villains Balancing:

Boba Fett
We’ve made a substantial change to the way Boba Fett’s jet pack feels when flying. We think you’re going to love the increased maneuverability! Furthermore, we improved his efficiency at distance with the EE-3. Previously, it could be frustrating to try to shoot with the EE-3’s high dispersion, especially while flying. As a result, we improved the EE-3 in a few areas and we hope this will combine with the jetpack changes to make Boba Fett even more fun to use on the battlefront.

  • Jet Pack - Jet Pack controllability improved
  • EE-3 - Reduced the minimum dispersion angle from 0.6 to 0.4
  • EE-3 - Reduced the maximum dispersion angle from 1.2 to 0.8
  • EE-3 - Increased End Damage from 20 to 25
  • Increased damage drop-off start distance from 15 to 20 meters

Iden Versio
We’ve heard your feedback that Iden's Droid Stun was very difficult to predict. We’ve made it much snappier and feel this should be a significant improvement to Iden, even though the droid’s damage has been slightly reduced.

  • Fixed an issue where Iden’s Droid Stun didn’t give damage on the first attack
  • Droid Stun - Reduced the time between the ability activation and shock
  • Reduced the damage from 40 to 50

Bossk
Bossk's Relby V-10 had a somewhat awkwardly high recoil. We reduced it a bit while adjusting the animation to make it feel more responsive. We also reduced the damage output of the Explosive Traps as we felt it was a bit too high. The Multi-Trap Star Card values were incorrect and the Epic Star Card could increase the radius of the damage past what was listed on the card. This unintentionally lead to Bossk having very high AoE damage.

  • Relby V-10 - Reduced recoil from 5 to 2.2
  • Explosive Traps - Reduced damage from 80 to 76 per trap
  • Multi-Trap - Fixed the Blast Damage Radius to fit the star cards numbers

Rey
Rey's signature Ability Insight had an incredible range and could go as far as 75 meters when paired with certain Star Cards. This was a bit too much and we’ve decided to reduce it drastically. We'll monitor how this change affects Rey's performance.

  • Mind Control - Reduced Mind Control radius from 20 to 18 meters
  • Insight - Reduced Insight radius from 50 to 30
  • Far Sight - Reduced bonus by 10% (now 10, 20, 30, 40%)

Kylo Ren
Kylo Ren had two of his Abilities on a 25 second timer, effectively making him less efficient and fun to play than other characters. As such, we reduced the cooldown for Pull and Freeze. We also felt he needed some damage absorption while being close to his targets, so we gave him some while Frenzy is active.

  • Pull - Reducing Pull recharge time from 25 to 20 seconds
  • Freeze - Reducing Freeze recharge time from 25 to 24 seconds
  • Frenzy - Kylo Ren now has 40% damage absorption while Frenzy is active

Luke Skywalker
We heard your wishes to have Luke traverse faster so we increased his sprint speed as much as possible without breaking the animation. Related to that update, we decided to push Luke more towards a "Hit & Run" game style. He’ll quickly jump into a skirmish and then bounce out to regain health before heading off for the next battle.

  • Increased Luke's sprint speed by .6 meters/second
  • Increased Luke Health from 700 to 750
  • Increased Health Regeneration rate from 50 to 110
  • Decreased Regeneration delay from 5 to 2.7
  • Decreased Max Regeneration amount from 250 to 200

Emperor Palpatine
Emperor Palpatine now requires line of sight on his target to trigger damage with his Dark Aura and default Lightning ability. Both abilities will no longer go through obstacles and walls. While we loved the fantasy fulfillment there, the frustration of not knowing what was damaging you was too high for us not to act on.

  • Lightning - Increased reach of the ability from 12 to 14 meters to compensate for the tighter collision check

Chewbacca
Chewbacca had one of the longest stun duration abilities in the game and it made him quite powerful. However, we wanted the stun to be a bit more tactical, so we reduced the duration.

  • Stun Grenade - Reduced the shock time from 1.6 to 1 second
  • Reduced Bowcaster side projectiles explosive damage from 25 to 21
  • Reduced furious Bowcaster side projectiles explosive damage from 12 to 10

Yoda
Yoda's lightsaber attacks were very weak compared to all other lightsaber wielders, so we have increased his attack damage significantly to bring him on par with the others. Additionally, in an effort to make Yoda feel more true to character, we've made a change to his Barrier ability. It now will break immobilizing effects upon activation.

  • Lightsaber - Increased damage from 80 to 115
  • Barrier - Added the functionality to break out of immobilizing effects on activation
  • Unleash - Increased energy holding time from 0.7 to 0.9 seconds
  • Unleash - Increased angle from 40 to 45 degrees.
  • Unleash - Increased first tier damage from 100 to 110, second tier damage from 125 to 130, third tier damage from 150 to 160, and fourth tier damage from 175 to 190

Lando Calrissian
We felt that Lando needed a boost to increase his effectiveness against lightsaber users. The best tool he had against them had a 25-second cooldown. To combat this, we significantly reduced the cooldown of Disruptor and of Smoke Grenade.

  • Disruptor - Reduced recharge time of disruptor from 25 to 19 seconds
  • Smoke Grenade - Reduced recharge time from 15 to 14 seconds

Darth Vader
We changed how Choke works in order to simplify comprehension for the player that is Darth Vader and for their target. In an effort to also make Darth Vader more "tanky" we granted him a health bonus when activating Focused Rage.

  • Focused Rage - Vader now receives 200 temporary bonus health when activating the Focused Rage ability
  • Reduced max health from 900 to 800

Captain Phasma
We took notice of your feedback regarding the utility of Captain Phasma's staff. We are improving it so that it feels faster and more fluid when used.

  • Staff Strikes - Increased the animation speed of the ability
  • Staff Strikes - Increased the transition speed between each strike
  • Increased how quickly Captain Phasma can use her blaster after performing a Staff Strike

Heroes and Villains Bug Fixes:

  • Lightsaber closers are deactivated while blinded
  • Fixed an issue where you would be in a "stun" state forever.
  • The maximum stun duration is now 5 seconds
  • Boba Fett - Fixed an issue that prevented Boba Fett from using his Jetpack ability when "For the Hunt" was activated while his Jetpack fuel was depleted
  • Luke Skywalker - Epicenter - The ability will now deal the proper amount of damaged when used
  • Yoda - Feel the Force - Edited the description of this ability to make it clear that all friendlies will receive a health bonus when used
  • Yoda - Enduring the Force - This ability will now apply the proper amount of bonus time
  • Yoda - Master of the Force - This ability will no longer damage players inconsistently and only when released at maximum power
  • Finn - Deadeye - The targeting crosshair should be properly removed after the ability has been used

Classes, Special Units, & Infantry Combat:

The Dodge ability has been proven to be too powerful, which was not our initial intent. Dodging granted far too many benefits like damage reduction, the inability to transition into a hit animation, ignoring lightsaber damage, and the inability to be targeted by lightsaber closers.

In order to handle this, we added an “unstaggerable” window during a set period of time when you dodge. You will still receive the same benefits during that window, but now you have a narrow time in which to gain those benefits. Now you’ll need to time your rolls better and predict attacks. While testing these changes, we feel good with the results so far and we really hope that you do too. This is a change that we will monitor closely.

  • All Classes - Fixed an issue on Blaster Rifles and the S-5, weapons that can be toggled with a high zoom level through Dual Zoom, where the scope glint would always appear when zooming. It now only appears when the dual zoom scope is equipped and toggled to its highest magnification level.
  • All Troopers have now received two default emotes.
  • Reduced the time it takes until you can shoot after executing a melee attack
  • Assault - Vanguard Shotgun - Lowered start damage per bullet from 14 to 12
  • Assault - CR2 - Fixed an issue with inconsistent Super Success triggers compared to other blasters
  • Heavy - Supercharged Sentry - Reverted the heat per bullet tweak made for 1.1 patch, from 0.17 to 0.15
  • Officer - Blurrg-1120 - Lowered start damage from 37 to 35 and end damage from 20 to 16

Milestones:

Milestones are now claimed automatically upon completion! Furthermore, we changed how Milestones and Challenges are sorted. Now, all completed items are on the bottom of the Career tab and we sort the active items by the amount left until completion.

Heroes and Villains Balancing:

Iden Versio
Iden was in need of a power increase so we decided to focus a lot on her for this Update while we watch the results of the previous Update’s impact on other Heroes.

GENERAL

  • Increased Base health from 550 to 650
  • Fixed an issue where the Secondary Fire module didn't appear on Iden's TL-50

DROID SHIELD
We made a small improvement to the Droid Shield as we felt it's wasn’t active long enough. This tweak should make it very viable.

  • Increased active time from 10 to 12 seconds

PULSE CANNON
Iden’s Pulse Cannon has been slightly re-worked for this Update. We improved it a bit for now but we would like to re-work this ability further in the future. It now fires faster so to compensate we reduced its base damage. The zoomed-in, long range damage should feel rewarding and we wanted to push the weapon’s use in that direction. As a result we’ve reduced the explosive damage but increased the weapon’s accuracy to make it more of a skill weapon. Additionally, we’ve gone back to an earlier design idea where we wanted Iden to more freely swap between the TL-50 and the Pulse Cannon – this will make Iden feel a bit more versatile.

  • Reduced the recharge time from 5 to 1 second
  • Added a zoomed-in damage increase multiplier of 80% (the explosive damage is not multiplied by this change)
  • Decreased the time to full power from 1.25 to 0.6 seconds
  • Decreased the non-zoom dispersion from 2 to 0.2 degrees (zoom dispersion is 0)
  • Reduced the recoil of the weapon
  • Reduced the start damage from 100 to 40
  • Reduced the end damage from 150 to 100
  • Reduced the start damage distance from 125 to 30 meters
  • Reduced the end damage distance from 150 to 50 meters
  • Reduced the explosive damage from 80 to 20

HOT SWAP – Star Card
This Star card has been changed to give health to Iden when her DROID STUN hits enemies, and even more when it hits Heroes. With the Pulse Cannon rework, the old version became obsolete. We know that players want more Hero Star Cards that regain health and we will investigate adding more, but this felt like it was a good fit for Iden's Droid. We'll monitor the balance of this Star Card until the next Update.

Boba Fett
JETPACK
We've heard the comparison to an F-15 and also heard that the maneuverability of Boba Fett’s jetpack is very well liked. With this tweak the speed is slightly reduced, but he should still feel fast and powerful when played.

  • Reduced the forward thrust speed of Boba's Jetpack slightly

HEALTH
While reducing Boba Fett's jetpack forward speed, we also wanted to revisit his health as it's the lowest currently and doesn't feel correct for a hero – even a flying one.

  • Increased Base Health from 500 to 550

Leia Organa
Leia’s hair has been updated to match her outfit
We're happy with Leia's current gameplay but will look at her SQUAD SHIELD for Heroes vs. Villains in the future. She is a very approachable character for new players. That said we'd like to push her more into a control-the-battle style of gameplay. We decided to bump up her health regeneration to keep her base health on the same level as other blaster-wielding Heroes as well as give her more of a chance to keep in the fight.

  • Increased maximum health regeneration for Leia from 150 to 200
  • Decreased health regeneration delay from 5 to 4.5 seconds

Han Solo
Han is hard to master and him having at low health without much defensive abilities made him quite vulnerable.

  • Increased base health from 600 to 650
  • Fixed an issue where Han Solo's DETONITE CHARGE didn't explode mid-air

Darth Vader

  • Fixed an issue where Darth Vader's PUNISHING GRIP Star Card wasn't correctly applied.

  • Point payoff with OFFICER’S PRESENCE was stacking, meaning an Officer standing in a choke point can farm thousands of Battlepoints without effort. To fix this, we've removed this stacking rule.

TURRET

  • The Turret now spots enemies when it acquires them and primes to fire. The spotted enemy is only visible to the officer who owns the turret.

  • Enabled spotting logic, IMPROVED THERMAL BINOCULARS increase the time an enemy is spotted

IDEN VERSIO
Iden's STUN DROID ability was shocking twice for 0.5 seconds with a 1.3 seconds delay in between. The intent was to give a chance to the target to roll away from the second stun and provide some skill reward. This ended up being confusing and rarely worked out as intended. Given Iden's recent improvements, this ability became too powerful and we needed to lower its effectiveness.

  • Removed double stun
  • Increased stun duration from 0.5 to 0.9 seconds

REY

  • The RESILIENT DASH Star Card is now giving the proper, listed damage reduction. Previously the damage reduction was higher than stated.
  • The INSIGHT ability's description now properly states that Rey's Stamina does not deplete while the ability is active

BOSSK

  • Fixed an issue where a red glint could appear on his Relby V-10 while scoped. In the Star Wars universe this weapon does not have a red glint at all!
  • The explosion timer of the grenades from PREDATOR INSTINCTS is now back to 1.7 seconds as intended

DARTH MAUL

  • The SABER THROW ability should now be more reliable than ever and will connect properly with its target
  • The FOOL ME ONCE Star Card now applies the proper bonuses

DARTH VADER

  • The DARK LORD Star Card now applies the proper bonuses

Captain Phasma

Captain Phasma's STAFF STRIKES should be easier to hit and chain to an enemy. Since it's easier to connect now, we needed to remove some advantages on the two first strikes. We will still be keeping the incentive to land all 3 strikes as each strike is more powerful than the previous one. We'll monitor if it feels strong enough, but Captain Phasma should be much more enjoyable to play.
  • Added the closing functionality to all Phasma's staff strikes
  • Reduced the damage of the first strike from 150 to 120
  • Removing the push effect on the two first attacks
  • Captain Phasma's FIRST ORDER SENTRY DROID now progressively self-repairs after 6 seconds of not taking damage, instead of instantly repairing

Luke Skywalker

Lightsaber Attacks

Luke did not feel as in control of his lightsaber as he should since he has slightly slower swings than some other lightsaber users. We'll look at improving the damage if the current buff doesn't prove to be enough for him but we'd like to see the results of these changes.
  • Reduced the cost of melee for Luke increasing his max amount of swings from full stamina from 8 to 10

Push

This is the first change to add different damage values for Heroes and other Units. It felt like Luke was the perfect Character to start with as both Push and Repulse were very weak against non-Hero enemies. The base damage of both abilities still needed to be improved for combat against opposing Heroes.
  • Added non-Hero specific damage to Luke's PUSH at 150
  • Increased PUSH damage to Heroes from 65 to 90
  • Added Non-Hero specific damage to REPULSE at 130
  • Increased REPULSE damage to Heroes from 50 to 75

Dash

  • Players can now move a few frames earlier after using the Dash ability
Leia Organa

Defender Alt-Fire

The Defender Pistol Alt-fire was too damaging for the short charge up time and getting hit by it from afar was very frustrating. This is a first pass on balancing; we'll see how it changes her efficiency as we'd still like her to be a great ranged defensive character.
  • Reduced the Defender Alt-fire damage from 175 to 145
  • Reduced Leia's Defender Alt-fire explosion radius from 2 to 1 meters
  • Reduced Leia's Defender Alt-fire targeting angle from 3.5 to 2 degrees
  • Corrected text on Leia's "Relentless Firing" Star Card that referred to bullets instead of blaster bolts
  • Leia now receives the proper amount of health from the "For the Rebellion" Star Card
  • Fixed an issue when the Defender didn't play the fire animation as it fired

Emperor Palpatine

Health Regeneration

Palpatine's sustainability was way too high with both his health regeneration and the Lightning Absorbtion Star Card. His health regeneration was higher than melee characters and for a range character (even if closer than blaster users) that let him not care much about taking damage.
  • Reduced health regeneration from 300 to 250

Lightning Absorption Star Card

The health regeneration on the Lightning Absorbtion Star Card was too high. especially when hitting grouped-up troopers. With this change we want Emperor Palpatine players to care more about their positioning and rely less on easy regeneration.
  • Reduced amount of health regenerated by the Lightning Absorption Star Card by 5 on all rarities
Dual Hand Lightning

Dual hand lightning had the same angle as the single hand one and it was way too easy to deal heavy damage on enemies without having to target them.
  • Reduced the targeting angle from dual hand lightning from 14 to 10

Lando Calrissian

X8-NIGHT SNIPER

Pulling the trigger on the X8 was quite high for a light pistol, we reduced it to give the weapon a lighter feel on consoles.
  • Reduced weight to pull the trigger of the X8-Night sniper from 70% to 50%

Han Solo

  • Han Solo can no longer throw multiple Detonite Charges while being hit by a lightsaber

Iden Versio

  • The Shield Sustain Star Card now activates for the proper amount of time
  • Sound properly plays when dodging again

Lightsaber Heroes

Lightsaber Air Attacks

  • Fixed an issue where lightsaber wielding heroes could damage a deflecting hero by attacking while airborne.
  • Now lightsaber heroes get staggered when attacking a deflecting character while airborne.

Lightsaber Damage

With the short damage delay, lightsaber attacks felt better for the attacker but not for the player receiving the damage. We've increased that delay slightly in an attempt to get the best result for both players.

  • Increased lightsaber damage delay from 0.06 to 0.09 seconds

CLASSES, SPECIAL UNITS, & VEHICLES

Dodge

We're aware of the stuns locks from lightsabers and we wanted to make the dodge stronger without making it as strong as it was before.

With this change, we are first unifying the dodges. Some characters, like Yoda, didn't have the same speed and distance for their dodge and that put them at a high disadvantage. All of the dodges for force users are now similar and all dodges for blaster users are the same.

The second part was to get away from stuns locks. To that effect, you are now unstaggerable and immune to melee damage from the start of the dodge (It was a few frames in from before). This is a shorter time than it was on release (it was the whole animation back then) but still enough to feel that you can avoid being damaged.

Please feedback on this change as we're hoping it will improve the fighting experience while not lowering the lightsaber efficiency too much.

  • Unified dodge lengths among Force using characters to 5.5 meters
  • Unified dodge lengths among blaster wielding characters (Including Troopers) to 4.75 meters
  • Dodge now makes characters unstaggerable from the first frame and for a longer time.
  • Dodge now makes characters immune to Lightsaber, melee, or Phasma's Staff Strikes damage while unstaggerable (first frames of the animation)

Stagger

There was a few frames in the animation that felt static and where it felt like the characters could start moving. As such we’ve allowed movement and dodge earlier in the staggered animation after hitting a blocking lightsaber.

Flame Trooper

  • Fixed a visual issue with how the Flame Trooper's Flame Grenade was exploding
  • Using the FORTIFY ability will no longer disable idle animations

AT-ST

  • Fixed an issue with the AT-ST having their lights on even when it was sunny

  • Fixed an issue where the player was able to use the LUIV beyond Phase 1 on Starkiller Base

In this hotfix we’ve made a change to pre-round timers get you into matches faster. On top of that we’ve fixed an issue where equipped Hero Emotes were not triggering, as well as fixing the Rank up bug which prevented users from getting the Rank 50 Achievement / Trophy. Squad System
The new Squad System will allow you to re-join your friends, allies, and the action much quicker than before. If you’re already playing with a group of friends, you will be placed together into a squad. If you join a game on your own, you will be placed into a random squad.

When you are defeated, you will have the ability to toggle through a spectator camera. This camera will be focused on one of your squad members and you’ll then have the ability to spawn directly onto them. Want to spawn on a different squad member? Simply toggle through the spectator camera until you find the squad member of your choosing.

The new squad system also grants you the ability to play 2v2 Private Matches of Hero Showdown.

91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps
The 91st Recon Cops were a regiment of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Lead by commander CC-8826, or Neyo, the 91st were involved in many battles across the Clone Wars.

104th “Wolf Pack” Battalion
The Wolfpack was a battalion that active throughout the Clone Wars and known for numerous military operations. On one such encounter, they engaged on a night assault on one of the last remaining outposts of General Grievous.
The 104th Battalion can be identified by the iconic Wolf logo that identifies the squad, and the dark blue markings upon their armour.

Ping Site Changes
We have added a new default setting to the ping site option. When you have this selected, the game will attempt to match you to any of the ping sites that you have the best ping to. In the real world, this means that if you are located in Europe and have a good ping to both Frankfurt [FRA] and Dublin [DUB], you could be matched to either one, meaning you should find games a lot quicker.

These changes will start to arrive alongside the September update and further updates will be made in the months after, as we continue to tweak and improve the matchmaking system.

Matchmaking
End of Round (EOR) matchmaking is a feature you will have noticed before. It’s something that has been turned on and tested at intermittent periods over the last few months.

The two key benefits to the end of round matchmaking will be:
  • Mixing players up more often. As a result of this it’s less likely that you will find yourself stuck in a poorly balanced game for more than a few rounds.
  • We’re changing the matchmaking behaviour so it favours filling up existing servers, as opposed to starting new ones. This means that you should join servers that are trending towards being full, as opposed to joining an empty one.

  • Selecting to spawn on squad members who are inside land vehicles will temporarily disable access to the “Choose Character” screen. The issue gets resolved once players choose to spawn in the Default location. The fix has been identified and will be implemented in the next update.
  • The spawn screen UI will, in rare cases, remain on during gameplay on Strike, or Galactic Assault. The issue gets resolved once players choose to respawn. The fix has been identified and will be implemented in the next update.
  • The cooldown timer of the Shock Grenade ability would not be affected by the Resourceful Star Card. The fix has been identified and will be implemented in the next update.

  • Fixed issues that allowed multiple players to spawn with the same Hero in Heroes Vs. Villains. Among other fixes, the "Change Character" button is now immediately unavailable after a death to prevent this.

  • Fixed an issue where the AI Starfighters would fly towards and remain stuck in out-of-bounds areas.

  • A score event of 100 pts. has been added when a squad member spawns on the player.
  • Fixed an issue where Assault-class icons would appear in empty squad member slots when viewing the spectator screen.
  • The occasional issue of the status of a squad mate being incorrectly displayed as available while selecting a class has been now resolved.

OBI-WAN APPEARANCE

A brand-new appearance will be arriving for Obi-Wan Kenobi and you’ll soon be able to enter the battlefront dressed in his “General Kenobi” attire, inspired by the Clone Wars animated show.

This appearance will be classed as Epic and will cost 40,000 credits or 1,000 crystals.

OBI-WAN KENOBI IMPROVEMENTS

It’s been great to welcome Obi-Wan into Star Wars Battlefront II and in the December update, we’re going to be making some improvements to him.

We’ve focused a lot on his animations and have made improvements to his dodges, stagger and defeated animations. We’ve also tweaked various other animations such as his jump and attack, and his ground attack.

Further adjustments have been made, including improvements to Obi-Wan Kenobi’s model and character rigging. Many of these changes won’t be visible on first glance, but they all go together to improve the overall quality and feel of General Kenobi.

GEONOSIS IMPROVEMENTS

We’ve given Geonosis an art pass with multiple changes being made to the opening cinematics. These changes range from additional blaster marks being placed upon the factory door, to improved textures and increased details on the Clone Trooper helmet.

Improvements have also been made to the animation of the AT-TE.

BLAST SPAWN RULES

After the recent success of the fast spawn event in Blast and based on your feedback, we have decided to permanently implement the squad system into Blast.

Alongside this addition we will also be reducing the spawn timer down to 5 seconds from 10 seconds, ensuring that Blast remains the action-packed experience that we’ve heard you want.

COMING 2019

As this will be one the last Transmissions of 2018 we wanted to sign off with a look ahead to the new year and some other changes that we are working on that we haven’t spoken about yet.

While we don’t have specific release dates for these just yet, you will be hearing more about them closer to their respected releases. The below are still in development and details may change between now and the time they are released.

LIGHTSABER COMBAT

This has been a topic that is frequently brought up and quite rightfully so. It would be incredibly difficult to talk Star Wars without mentioning one of the most iconic aspects of the series.

Recently we began prototyping some new changes to the lightsaber combat and we’re hoping to release these early in 2019.

The biggest change you will notice with this is how attacking heroes will no longer stagger backwards upon hitting a defending hero. We’ve also made the change that once a hero has run out of stamina, they will not be able to attack.

These changes begin to roll out within the December Update, where we will be replacing the stamina reticule with a brand-new user interface element which will offer better insight into how much stamina you have remaining.

Alongside this user interface change, and also coming in the December Update is a new UI element that displays your ability to dodge.

From our playtests that has helped increase the flow of combat, making it a lot more fluid, tactical and most importantly, enjoyable. We can’t wait for you to go hands on with it when it releases in early 2019.

TROOPER CUSTOMIZATION

We will be granting the officer an armoured appearance and offering the Navy Officer as a free unlockable option. Much like the Navy Officer, all other default appearances will be available as free unlocks.


Yes, armoured Officers are confirmed.

We will have more details on trooper customisation in 2019, but we wanted to let you know that it’s something that’s on the way.

On the subject of trooper appearances, we can also confirm that in January we will be rolling out changes to the 41st, 91st, 104th and 327th Clone Trooper squadrons based on your feedback earlier this year.

EMOTE WHEEL

Emotes are a fun addition to the game and allow you to personalize your troopers and heroes with some additional personality.

Up until now, the amount of emotes you’ve been able to equip has been limited, but we’re making some changes in early 2019 that will alleviate this problem.

Through the use of the emote wheel, we will allow you to select from up to eight emotes during the game. One tap of a button and the emote wheel appears, from here you’ll be able to select the emote that you want to use.

As we move forward we are also investigating the ability to have a secondary emote wheel that focuses more on gameplay related communication such as “Cover Me” and “Defend Here”.

We’re kicking off 2019 with the arrival of Count Dooku and some changes to Geonosis. We’ll be making Geonosis available in a selection of other game modes, including Arcade. The update is scheduled to release on January 23rd.

COUNT DOOKU

A master duelist, Count Dooku excels at close combat with a lightsaber and can deflect lightsabers easier than other lightsaber heroes.

While his skills with a lightsaber are to be feared, opponents will also be wise to avoid his Lightning Stun ability, where he can quickly unleash a blast of lightning. Opponents caught in the blast radius will be thrown to the ground.

Calculating and confident, you should approach Count Dooku with caution. Count Dooku will be available to unlock via credits only, costing 35,000.

Dooku unleashes a very quick lightning stun that throws all nearby opponents to the ground. The damage is reduced for each extra target, up to a maximum of 5 targets.

This ability targets a single opponent and causes them to become affected by a number of detrimental effects. Anyone targeted by Expose Weakness will have their movement slowed down, will receive increased damage from all attacks, and they will become highlighted for Dooku throughout the duration of the ability. Should the target be defeated by one of Dooku’s attacks while Expose Weakness is active, the cooldown is instantly refreshed.

This ability begins by Dooku raising his lightsaber up to his face and then down to his side, readying himself for combat. Once activated, Duelist will improve his lightsaber attack speed and damage for a short time. While active, Dooku will change his attack sequence, now duelling with one hand behind his back.

His dodge is also on a shorter cooldown than others and with more charges available, making him a formidable foe for anyone that goes up against him in close quarters combat.

GEONOSIS COMING TO ADDITIONAL GAME MODES

The reception to Geonosis when it launched in November last year was very positive, but one question remained: “When will it be coming to other game modes?”

  • The “Dark Ritual” appearance is now available to unlock for 40,000 Credits or 1,000 Crystals.

INCOMING TRANSMISSION

Another update can only mean another Transmission. If you’ve been keeping up with all the news this month then you will know that on February 27th Anakin Skywalker will make his entrance into Star Wars™ Battlefront II.

Anakin will be joined by the 501st Battalion, the Clone Trooper legion that he himself lead into battle so many times. The 501st will also be joined by the Coruscant Guard, who will be making their appearance in the Chosen One Update.
There are big changes coming to the Clone Trooper legions with each Trooper Class now getting their own look, relevant to the legion that they are a part of. This also sees the first time that Officers will be able to equip Clone Trooper armour.

Additionally, there’s been a lot of discussion around stuns and their effect on the flow of gameplay. With stuns now having a lower duration and a short immunity once you have been stunned, we’re looking forward to seeing how these changes improve the experience.

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

Anakin’s power and skill were virtually unmatched, though his overconfidence and anger could get the better of him. Even still, when innocent people were in danger, he would never hesitate to put his life on the line to save them. When his friends needed his help, he would not abandon them.

CLONE TROOPER APPEARANCES

Under the new system Troopers will be visually different from one another, but all the while retaining the overall theme of their specific legion.

What this means is a Heavy will have different markings to a Specialist (and Assault and Officer), but you will still be able to tell which legion they belong to. This also means that, for the first time, Clone Trooper Officers will have armored Appearances.

CORUSCANT GUARD

This division of elite troopers were designated to protect the capital of the Galactic Republic and are identified by the red markings across their armour.

They could often be found patrolling the streets of Coruscant while also had the responsibility of protecting buildings of high importance. As the war progressed, the Coruscant Guard would go on to find themselves serving as bodyguards for members of the Galactic Senate and even the Supreme Chancellor himself.

501st BATTALION

Perhaps the most well renowned Clone trooper legion, the 501st Battalion led by Anakin Skywalker and Captain CT-7567, more commonly known as Rex, fought across many of the biggest and most important battles of the Clone Wars. Though they had the same hearts and the same blood as all their brothers, their minds were sharpened by the diverse battlefronts they fought across.

EMOTE WHEEL

Emotes have always been a fun addition to the game and we’ve all seen how much you enjoy “Hello There”. Fun aside, they can also be a useful social mechanic in order to quickly communicate with your squad and nearby players.

The inclusion of a new Emote Wheel, with the ability to contain up to 8 emotes will allow you to better communicate with your team.

STUNS

One piece of feedback we’ve been reading is in relation to the stuns that can be applied during combat. We agree that some of these stuns are too long and have made some adjustments accordingly.

Starting with Emperor Palpatine, we will be lowering the stun duration of his lightning from 1.6 seconds to 1 second. Phasma’s turret will have its stun duration lowered from 1 second to 0.8 seconds and Lando’s stun grenade will be have its effect reduced from 1.4 seconds to 1 second.

In addition to this we will be implementing a stun immunity to all hero abilities for 3.5 seconds, specifically when being stunned by either Phasma, Iden, Chewbacca, Emperor Palpatine, or Lando. What this means is that should you be stunned by one of the listed heroes above, you will not be able to be stunned again for 3.5 seconds.

RELEASE NOTES
  • Anakin Skywalker is now playable and unlocked via Credits. Anakin Skywalker comes with four abilities: Passionate Strike, Heroic Impact, Pull Dominance, Retribution. One alternative Jedi Robes appearance is available to unlock for Credits or Crystals.
  • New Clone Trooper legions are now available to unlock for Credits or Crystals (Coruscant Guard, 501st Legion). The new legion of the 41st Ranger Platoon is available to unlock for free through the "Chosen One" Crate.
  • Pattern variety has been added among classes and Phases of all available Clone Trooper legions. Players who have already unlocked these appearances, will be able to convert to the new ones for free through Crates.

QUALITY OF LIFE
  • Added an in-game Emote Wheel and increased the amount of emotes a player can have equipped at a time to 8
  • Added a Frontend tab to differentiate between Phase I and Phase II Clone Trooper appearances.

HERO AND CLASSES CHANGES
  • Implemented changes to Stun Lock for different Heroes.
  • Reduced Emperor Palpatine's Lightning stun duration from 1,6 to 1.
  • Reduced Captain Phasma's turret stun from 1 to 0,8.
  • Reduced Lando Calrissian's stun from 1,4 to 1.
  • Added stun immunity lasting 3,5 seconds to all Heroes, after having been stunned once by Captain Phasma, Iden Versio, Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca or Lando Calrissian.
  • Inspired by Star Wars™: Episode II Attack of the Clones. If Yoda uses Unleash, right after absorbing (blocking) Count Dooku's Lighting Stun attack, Yoda will be able to project lighting back to enemies.
  • Fixed an issue where Lightsaber users would not take damage from the enemy's first Lightsaber attack while regenerating health.
  • Fixed an animation issue where Heroes would occasionally get stuck in map geometry when performing the dash movement over an edge.
  • Fixed an issue where the stamina bar would occasionally be wrongly displayed due to server latency. The stamina bar no longer shows up or gets drained, when the player has not managed to block in time.
  • Lightsaber Heroes can now damage enemy turrets.
  • Fixed an issue that would allow players to spawn with both Heroes and vehicles in a map.
  • Fixed an issue where Heroes would still deflect blaster shots during their Defeat animation, if they were defeated while deflecting.

KYLO REN
  • Increased Kylo base Lightsaber damage from 100 to 125.
  • Increased Kylo base Lightsaber extra damage when attacking from behind from 20 to 40.
  • Increased Kylo base Frenzy damage on Heroes from 80 to 125.
  • Increased Kylo base Frenzy damage on Troopers from 80 to 150.
  • Decreased Bloodlust extra damage on Frenzy from 10, 20, 30, 40 to 5, 10, 15, 20.
  • Fixed an issue where reactivation of the Frenzy ability would be blocked for a short time, if it was activated with no target. The ability successfully remains on the same target until they are defeated. It swaps to a new target upon original target defeat.
  • Fixed an issue where Kylo Ren's first hit with Frenzy would not stagger targets, making it look like the attack had missed.
  • Fixed an issue where the Frenzy ability could be activated mid-air,
  • Fixed a visual issue where the duration of Kylo Ren's Freeze ability would not be synchronized with the grayed-out screen effect from the affected user.

REY
  • Fixed an issue where targets affected by Rey's Mind Trick ability would be able to sprint backwards.

OBI-WAN KENOBI
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi will receive 80% less damage while holding out to perform the All-Out Push ability.
  • Fixed an issue where Obi-Wan Kenobi's All-Out Push ability would be occasionally retriggered by the player.
  • Fixed an issue where Lightsaber audio would play while the Lightsaber is turned off during "Strongest Defense" emote.
  • Updated the VO for Obi-Wan in German with the original German voice actor, Philipp Moog.

GENERAL GRIEVOUS
  • Fixed an issue where General Grievous would get pulled further than normal when affected by Force abilities.
  • Fixed an issue where the stamina bar for Lightsaber Heroes would not deplete when blocking General Grievous' Unrelenting Advance ability.
  • Added eye animation to General Grievous when viewing him on the Appearances screen.

HAN SOLO
  • Fixed an issue where the Defeat card icon would not display correctly if a player was defeated by Han Solo's Shoulder Charge ability.

COUNT DOOKU
  • Improved the way Count Dooku's attacks connect with the enemy to allow for more smooth movement in close-range combat.
  • Made visual improvements to the Expose Weakness reticle, so that is more visibly related to the ability icon.
  • Improved various visual clipping issues visible in Count Dooku's Victory Poses.
  • Fixed an issue where Count Dooku's cape would float excessively while standing over Han Solo's Detonite Charge or Lando Calrissian's Disabler.
  • Fixed an issue where Count Dooku's VO would overlap with Obi-Wan's VO.
  • Fixed several issues where several audio lines by Count Dooku would not trigger in Multiplayer.

DARTH VADER
  • Made improvements towards issues with camera shaking when a player was being choked by Darth Vader. The camera of the target player being forced to look at Darth Vader when being choked was removed.

DARTH MAUL
  • Fixed an issue where Darth Maul would be unable to cast any ability except Choke Hold, when being pushed while using the Spin Attack ability.

GAME MODE AND MAP CHANGES
GALACTIC ASSAULT - JAKKU
  • Fixed an issue where the HUD icons would not disappear for the defending team, if the first two points were captured at relatively the same time.

GALACTIC ASSAULT - GEONOSIS
  • Fixed a visual issue where the Capture icon in the last phase of Geonosis would showcase a human icon instead of an AT-TE icon.

GALACTIC ASSAULT - CRAIT
  • Tentatively fixed an issue that would occasionally cause the AT-M6 to sink under the ground.

EWOK HUNT
  • Fixed a visual issue where light effect from the Imperial Shuttle would appear with jagged textures.
  • Fixed a geometry issue that would allow Stormtroopers to climb unreachable areas on Ewok Hunt.

KESSEL
  • Fixed an issue where Boba Fett could glitch out of the intended play area on Kessel
HOTH
  • Fixed an issue the wind blowing snow effect on Hoth would occasionally cause reduced performance.
KAMINO
  • Fixed a visual issue where the floors would show up grey instead of white on Kamino.
  • Fixed an issue where players would get stuck in the barracks between the wall and a sleep pod.
YAVIN 4
  • Fixed a geometry issue that would allow players to enter an unintended area inside the Great Temple.
VARIOUS IMPROVEMENTS
  • Fixed visual issues with draw distance on certain objects on Endor and Geonosis
ARCADE CHANGES
STARFIGHTER ARCADE
  • Fixed an issue where AI Starfighters would be too evasive and avoid the player in combat.
SQUAD SPAWN CHANGES
  • Disabled Squad Spawn on all Jetpack-carrying Special characters for all eras
VEHICLE CHANGES
  • Updated the description of certain Vehicle Star Cards for accuracy and grammatical correctness.
GEONOSIS - AT-TE
  • Fixed an issue where the AT-TE experience bar would not always be in-sync with the scoring events happening in-game.

CHANGES TO CLASSES AND SPECIAL UNITS
  • Fixed an issue where Aerial troopers could occasionally re-use the Jetpack Boost with no cooldown, if the ability and jump buttons would be pressed at the same time.
  • Fixed a visual issue where target outlines would occasionally not show correctly when using the Thermal Binoculars as an Officer.
  • Fixed punctuation issues on Star Card descriptions for Reinforcements.
  • Polished facial animations on the Resistance and Rebel Rocket-Jumper.
  • Fixed a visual issue with draw distance affecting Clone Trooper appearances.

GENERAL CHANGES/MISC
  • Fixed a rendering issue that would occasionally cause Living World actors to be invisible.
  • Hit-markers now change to yellow when hitting vehicles in a weak spot.
  • Friendly players that are defeated in battle will show up on the radar as a cross for a short while.

KNOWN ISSUES
  • Due to a late balancing change, the additional damage from Anakin's "PRESSURE" Star Card applies only to the final strike of Anakin's Passionate Strike ability. The Star Card description currently implies that the additional damage is applied to every strike when using the ability. The description text will be corrected at a later update.

With the recent release of the Chosen One update we will be releasing a hotfix this week (March 6th) that addresses a small number of issues and also contains a balancing pass for Anakin.

We’re very happy with the way Anakin has been received but we have decided to lower the max base damage of his Heroic Impact ability to 450 points. In addition to this we have reduced the max radius which is now locked to 20 meters. While Anakin should always be a formidable opponent, we felt that being able to one-shoot heroes from such a great distance was not optimal.

Based on community feedback we have also fixed the issue where the damage reduction on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s All-Out Push ability was remaining active. Thanks for the early flag on this, the feedback helped us secure a fix really fast.

We hope you’re enjoying the Chosen One update and we look forward to seeing you all on the battlefront.

Hey Everyone,

It’s always a nervous time within the team when a big new piece of content leaves the safety of the team and finds its way into your hands. We always felt that Capital Supremacy was shaping up to be a great addition to Star Wars™ Battlefront II and we’ve been really happy with the feedback we’ve had so far.

In this hot fix we’ve got some changes going live that will address game stability. One of the biggest issues we’ve been targeting has been when you find yourself stuck on the deploy screen within the second phase transition of Capital Supremacy.

We’ve added some fail-safes which we believe will lower the risk of this from happening and will be monitoring the situation closely.

The AI in Capital Supremacy is a brand-new system and is located online, or server side. We believe they were causing some of the crashes we were seeing and have added some fixes we believe should address this.

Anakin Skywalker has had a minor balancing pass, affecting the damage and cooldown values of his abilities. We felt that while being the Chosen One, he needed some minor changes in order to try and bring balance.

Reception to the new reinforcements has been really good and we’ve got some tweaks that are being included based on your feedback. We’ve lowered the damage slightly of Power Blast while raising the end damage of the E-5.

The Star Wars Battlefront II Team

  • Added fail-safe scripts to reduce the chances of unreactive spawning when transitioning between Ground and Capital Ship phases in Capital Supremacy. Additional server logging has been implemented to further diagnose spawning issues.

  • Fixed an issue where players who join an ongoing match would occasionally get no audio during the boarding cinematic in Capital Supremacy.
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent the ARC Trooper from gaining progress when playing on Phase 1 maps (Kamino and Geonosis - Trippa Hive).
  • Fixed an issue where Darth Maul’s Choke Hold ability would occasionally be inaccurately activated from a distance when being used at the same time as another Hero's ability.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from completing the Scoped achievement when playing as a Specialist, when fulfilling the criteria against AI on Capital Supremacy.
  • Fixed an issue where Rey and Finn’s ability UI for the Insight and Undercover abilities would not always be fully visible.
  • Revised the ping color of the ARC Trooper’s Helmet Scanner ability for consistency.
  • Fixed an issue where Geonosians would occasionally be seen flying through the ground on Geonosis - Pipeline Junction West.
