Porting profile issue on P vs Z heroes

I have just bought a iPhone 7 upgrading from a 5 and am trying to load my previous Game Center profile on plants vs zombies heroes however when it syncs to that profile and I click play I am stuck on the looking for updates loading screen. I have tried to log out of Game Center as the fix suggests but every time I log back to my previous profile (which I've spent a lot of money on) it always reverts back to the loading screen. Please help as this is driving me mad.
