Why when I press the eye on a level does it show me the house instead of zombies

When I press the button with the zombie eye why does it show me the house instead of the zombies, I was okay with it at first but now I'm not prepared for new zombies because I can't see them.

The eye is there so when you tap it you can see the entire lawn.

I don't think I've ever needed to see the entire lawn

There might be something under the almanac, such as power tiles or pre-planted plants.
