No items displayed in achievements after downloading Dark Ages

I downloaded the Dark Ages update for iPhone, but when I go to access my acheivements / view the new challenges,  the screen just has 'Tap to rate this game' and 'No items'. The only way out is to tap 'Done', which takes me back to the start up screen.
